Good because it gives everybody an opportunity to rise to the top.

Capitalism is inherently imbalanced and inequitable as an economic paradigm, as are most other things in life; however, of all our existing or recent economic systems (communism/socialism etc.), it is the most efficient system of the organizing and distribution of material wealth that man has devised.

The inherent inequities and failures of the system are many; and in fact, capitalism and it's core tenets of Return on Investements (ROI) and Profit margins is based on maintaining an economically stratified populous of "haves" and "have nots" if they are to achieve these returns on investments or spreads, so it does restrict most to the "have not" side of the divide.

If capitalism afforded a more equitable distribution of opportunity and therefore, material wealth....say 50% controlling 50% of the world's resources instead of the 1-10% that does, material poverty would presumably be minimized (assuming that the 50% would be shared among families, love ones and communities).

It all depends on the action of the individual(s).

It's good. However, the U.S. model works off of imbalance and I don't believe that's necessary in order to have capitalism.

It encourages the exploitation of workers by keeping them at the subsitence level. Karl Marx perceived this as camouflaged slavery.

LOL! Please point to a capitalistic society on earth where capitalism exist in a balanced, egalitarian state; where there exist one fair economically balanced class instead of the multiple stratums of elite, privileged, middle class, working poor and the abject impoverished....please enlighten me! Capitalism by it's very design is IMBALANCED! You are too funny woman, but I like your spunk, misguided as it may be!

Hehe hell!

Switzerland has a decently balanced form. Furthermore, I said the U.S. model is unbalanced (mainly because the U.S. divides by race/born class) however, I don't believe capitalism has to work in that manner. BUT, the bare bones of capitalism is good; it's right.

Hopefully some smart white man will figure it all out for us.

The lady knows not of what she speaks! Have you been to Switzerland...because I have, and guess what? There is, as it is elsewhere, a small elite class and a larger underclass, divided into middle class and underclass. Not balanced at all!

And capitalism cares not what you believe for she well perform consistent with the dictates of her core tenets. Are you silly, gullible and naive enough to believe that racism is a practice endemic only to the USA? That economic discrimination happens only to blacks? Please stick to the IR threads, because at least there, you can speak about something in which you have some empirical experiences.

And for your sake, I hope that those White boys figure it out as well, but I wouldn't count on it....at least not on your behalf.

No my dear I do not enjoy arguing, but I do however, enjoy a good debate; for it is through debating with those who possess certain esoteric genres of knowledge that one expands his or her own data base of knowledge.

You on the other hand, seem to only joining hands with those who already share your beliefs, singing kumba ya, reassuring yourselves by recycling and mutually masturbating each other with your emotionally driven falsehoods and beliefs.

I, as a rule, don't try and debate about things in which my knowledge is insufficient in either theoretical or empirical understanding and form, while you, on the other hand, seem never to make any distinction between what you know or don't know.

Besides, I believe I posted here first, so you as the respondent, would be arguing with me...get the chronological sequence correct my child!

Just be quiet. See how easy that was?

And I know what I'm speaking about. It just bothers you that I do. Besides, I would never listen to someone who believes respect is just some sidepiece item on the menu.

Now Why would it bother me if you demonstrated through your post that you possessed a nuanced understanding of the economic science; which you have not done...(I said that nicely). And I don't believe that I was soliciting or inviting you to sit in my audience anyways woman because you would only be a disruptive and divisive force with your make belief arguments, and please, stop taking my words out of context because I never said such a thing....just let it go! Gawd you're such a woman! lol

Getting an education and BEING EDUCATED are two distinct things my friend, but at the risk of sounding like a sexist pig....you're not bad...I guess.... for a woman. At least you've heard of Karl Marx!

Better a thorn in my side than a pain in my azz, so from this point forward, I will try and put on my kiddie gloves when going back and forth with you....I don't want to discourage you from learning outside of the IR/romantic/Niccas aint shyt genre! lol

You barely know how to fit in with your audience and yet you want to speak to me about education. Whatever.

But otherwise, I appreciate your generosity. I will take you up on that offer to be a thorn in your side.

Whatever do you mean....my audience? If I had an audience, which I don't...at least not here, they would not pick trivial meat off of bones about my word usage, like you have done since I first came on Topix. They would simply focus on the content of what I was saying and determine the substantive value or truth of the content.

And to further explain the "education" comment; The most brilliant people that I have ever met in this world, people who were capable of authoritatively conversing about hundreds of subjects, spoke fluently 4 or 5 language, people who were esoteric in their knowledge, were self educated and never set foot on a college campus. Hence the distinction between getting an education (college) and being educated (A self taught mastery of subject matter).

Stop believing Knowledge can not exist unless white folks give it or validate it with their certificates!

And your declaration of taking me up on "being a thorn in my side" is somewhat of a faux description, not to mention, late as hell. You are more like an annoying buzzing bee, full of bullsh....I mean pollen, that won't fly away!

What does this have to do with capitalism?
