According to the Wall Street Journal,“the legacy preference,” which gives the children of alumni an additional advantage in the admissions process,“overwhelmingly benefits whites.”
Sons and daughters of graduates constitute up to 10% and 15% of students at most Ivy League Schools and enjoy markedly higher rates of acceptance. Harvard accepts 40% of its legacy applicants, compared with 11% overall acceptance rate. Princeton accepts 35% compared with 11% overall and the University of Pennsylvania accepts 41% compared with 21% overall. See below

Sounds like they are trying to keep up with affirmative action.

Whites built the schools. White alumni donate millions to the schools for new buildings.

What's your beef?

but whites benefit from affirmative action too. White women have benefited the most, so that means their white husbands and white kids are benefiting as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if alumni kids were better qualified with better grades and higher sat scores than many other applicants. Their parents are educated and probably take an interest in their kids' education. But not knowing the details, we don't know whether or not alumni kids are getting admitted ahead of better qualified applicants just based on the fact they have a higher rate of acceptance. Of course, if this involved affirmative action then we would know that less qualified minority applicants were chosen over more qualified whites. Affirmative action is government sanctioned racial descrimination committed against whites who haven't even been charged with discriminating against anyone. While white liberals approve of such discrimination for other whites, one does not see white liberals stepping aside from their jobs or positions of power to make room for a minority. Due to affirmative action one doesn't really know if a black graduate really earned his degree. Is he really as capable as the white graduate that had no government sanctioned lower threshold to meet? Maybe, maybe not. We will only know when we are required to meet the same standards and not before.

More white women benefit from affirmative action than anyone else.

Do white women really need affirmative action? No. That goes to show how others wanna get in on it . White women are the majority . And get more degrees than anyone. More power to them. But they don't need nor even deserve affirmative action.

Yeah....blacks have been stupid for generations, so they don't HAVE Ivy League "legacies"....

Look up acceptance rates at "HBCU"s, now, and tell the OTHER side of the story...

Probably a bit of that the apple don't fall far from the tree (ie kids of alumni are smarter/more academically minded than the average kid). But probably also an element of prejudice against those from non traditionally academic back grounds. If you are suggesting a racial element (ie you suggested input from white people, then there is a lot of positive discrimination in america so work harder and they will bend over backwards to give you places)
