And my subclade is L3f. I got my results back from that National Geographic thing. It says this subclade is in east africa. But I thought most African Americans were L2 or something. Somebody explain this 2 me.

I'm not too famialiar with Haplogroups, but people from different backgrounds or race can have the same Haplogroup. A west African can have some Haplogroup that East Africans have. Remember Human life started in East Africa.

It can be a number of reasons really, we all know L3 originated in east africa but it is found in both north-east and north-west africa.

Perhaps the early east-africans migrated north and proceeded to west africa, following the mediterranean and leaving traces of their presence (L3&E) as they wandered?

"haplogroup L3 occurs only in Africa, but on that continent its derivatives are found nearly everywhere." http://www.angelfire.com/id2/horus7/genograph...

I just googled and found this. Someone else posted their results from the same source as yours.

Maybe you're just mixed like Prodigy from the rap group Mobb Deep. He's African-African but he has Ethiopian ancestry.
