given that Obama was not yet an attorney, not necessarily a "safe deal" like JAG...as if that matters...

I have to strongly disagree with that line of BS. In order to live in a free society and enjoy those freedoms, you need to contribute to that society. Sometimes that means contributing some of your time, maybe your life. I can't imagine what this world would be like if my father's generation felt the way you do. would we all be speaking German?
Listen you yellow belly chicken sh!t conservative wimp
NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE.
FREEDOM COMES AT A HIGH COST.
Gid jerks like you make me sick with disgust. I'm a liberal, but I know that freedom comes with a cost, so I paid that cost with 6.5 years service in the Corps.
BTW, every country in Europe requires some sort of service to their country.
Galt agrees with you about service, but strongly disagrees with you about compulsory service, a/k/a slavery...

if the cause is just, people will serve...when the cause is a political fraud like LBJ's war in Vietnam, not so much...hence the "need" for the draft...

FACT: Republican attempts to gut the legislation or restrict abortion procedures could not have been presented if they had not been included in the process. Republicans could not have voted down amendments if they had not be included in the process. Geez!
Do you really think there were no republicans on the various committees taking up the ACA bill?(Education and Labor; Ways and Means; Energy and Commerce; Finance committees?) It is well documented that Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus was talking with Republican senators across the aisle who were united in their opposition to Obama.
Where were you when the Republicans were debating the bill on the floor? Sleeping? The only reason there were uniform consent agreements (UCAs) in the first place is because Republicans agreed. Can't do that if your not included in the discussion.
Here, this is a good article that may help you understand the process.

other than the Grassley Amendment, which Obama has nullified by executive decree, name one single Republican suggestion or idea that was included in the Anti-American Communist Act (ACA)....

I agree with you no LBJ's Vietnam war, he should have been impeached. But I disagree with you in general about the draft. War or no war, everyone should serve some time in the military, be trained and learn what the price of freedom is. too many freeloaders forget what they've been given.

why technically Bush did not avoid the draft, he used another tactic
TO AVOID COMBAT DUTY IN NAM.
That tactic was only available to the rich and connected.

let's not facts get in the way of your reality. Why don't you look at the statistics. what he said is spot on. BTW, although there was a draft during Nam, the average soldier who saw combat also fit that mold. Heck just look at the Bush administration, it was comprised almost entirely of chickenhawks who even though they were of draft age during Nam, never got drafted
many who served in Vietnam were college graduates, through either ROTC or the draft...probably a higher percentage of college graduates than any other war...

What nerve and guts do you need to serve in the country's military during a time of no major conflict? It takes more nerve and guts to study law at a top rated university. Now, THAT is scary.
