Why do blacks and hispanics dislike eachother?

I think it's mostly in southern cali and in the prisons.. In northern cali the mexicans who are born here get along fine with black people.

Exactly,the nortanos and other mexicans who are in northern cali were born here and they have no beef with blacks. The nortanos dont even like the southern cali mexican surrenos who many were actually born in mexico .

There are SOME Nortes I've met that DON'T like blacks, but for every one of them there's like 10 Cholos who don't like you unless you're mexican. Shit, the Surenos are even racist against other latinos!!!

I know same here. The females and men are like my family here in Arizona. Any latino/latina and mexican I have ever met has been cool with me and we make friends easy. It's weird hearing there's all these problems and it's sad too. I think, aside from the class/competition thing, on a one to one encounter it's probably alot of attitudes and jealously crap. I'm not sure, but I have always sensed a tension between Blacks and Hispanics. This makes me so sad, because I feel as though, historically, politically, economically, and especially CULTURALLY we are such kindred spirits.

I can't speak for all Blacks, but among my positive experiences with Hispanics, i've also noticed that a few of my own interactions with Hispanics has been negative, and based solely on racial difference (and I can only speak from particular instances).

For example, my boyfriend,(who is very attractive), is ALWAYS mistaken to be Puerto Rican because he is so light-skinned. In reality, he's African American, and more specifically, he's Creole. In contrast, I am a dark-skinned (fabulous and beautiful :-)) African American female. However, quite a few times, when we have walked into an establishment that is run/owned by Hispanics, there is a lot of hataration going on, particularly in the very hateful banter that is thrown back and forth between some of the Hispanics present (almost always women). Usually, these exchanges are made in Spanish.

The fact that the communication is made in Spanish is equally hurtful, 1. because there is a certain level of ignorance that I associate with people who don't fully comprehend their history and the spectrum of skin tones that represent the Hispanic population. 2. there's an assumption somehow that because I am Black that I have zero capacity for communicating in a foreign language (when in reality i've studied and mastered six).

these assumptions speak not only to the hidden prejudice in the particular people who are offending me, but also speaks to a level of historical and cultural ignorance with which i just cannot identify.

i hope no one will take this recount of my story as hate speech, as I understand that these isolated incidences cannot be generalized to the Hispanic population as a whole. in that spirit, however, these experiences that my boyfriend and I have endured are so very hurtful to us and only strain the relationship between Blacks and Hispanics.

and honestly, even if my boyfriend WAS Hispanic and I was Af-Am, what the hell is the problem? anyway, we need to come together and just stop being freakin' ridiculous.

^^ You sound pretty on target to me. That's no hate speech. You're just acknowledging that there are still incidents were some ignorant and jealousy and stereotyping exists. Women can change from "cool" to "bitch" in .6 seconds when it comes to a African American female and an attractive light skin guy whom many latinas and even white females like to claim as "good enough for their 'own'". i think you still do have a problem with black women, most other women that have an interest in black men tend to have issues with blackwomen. but you shouldnt...MOST blackwomen really dont care....especially those of us that prefer whitemen.

That's probably right too.

I havent had trouble with latinas or anything, but all these "killer Mexican mafia thugs" (that's just a quote of how people decribe them) who are always talked about on those cable "Gangland" reality shows as racists and fighting with "blacks" just seem like big cute cuddly Teddy Bears to me. LOL

They show mad respect when I'm a talking with them or helping them out in some way (not crime or sex-wise lol), but just because of things related to my job. The mexican/latino so-called gangbangers and haters from California, Arizona, Panama and some of those other hispanic territories are cool as hell and show ULTIMATE respect when you help them out in a jam or just bullshitting.

. I swear they are more respectful and listen attentively to advise and they show their appreciation big time. Those so-called "thugs" and "bangers" and Mafia-typea show MUCH respect if they don't think you have some kind of attitude.

It seems like it's really in their culture. People think (like at my job, for ex) it would be the worse thing to talk to and work on stuff men of certain backgrounds THAT'S why those dudes have an attitude towards some whites and anyone who they sense is looking down on them. It's common sense.

When I show MY respect to men like that and when they know I'm not judging and looking down at them or some shit and if you're down to Earth AND FOR REAL with them, THEY ARE AS SWEET AS PIE. I'm tellin ya.

It's crazy people at work and other places try to avoid them and they know this. That's why they will give an attitude right back!

But like I said, their women can be just as cool (and they can cook their asses off LOL) and they MAKE you eat some of the dinner they cook when they offer you a plate. LOL. I am such a sucky cook. I could NEVER match those females in the kitchen, uh uh.

I know many people may look down on the females sometimes, but I CAN NOT disrespect someone who has not personally disrespected me and so far, ones I've met shown the same curteousy. I think it's just about attitude and one on one respect. Period. No special formula there.

100% AGREED! yes they are very jealous, which is all of this mess going on with blackpeople. mexicans want to replace blackpeople; but they can bascially forget it.
