The United States is a great place. From New York to Los Angeles and covering everything in between, the U.S. boasts unprecedented diversity, natural wonder and opportunity. Americans love freedom so much, they have hot dog-eating contests on Independence Day to prove it. And good luck finding something better than a cronut.

Despite that general awesomeness, though, the U.S. isn't the best at everything. That's not dinging the land of the free and the home of the brave for no reason, but rather, to say that Europe just does some things better.

Here are a few arenas where the U.S. could learn a thing or two from the old country.

1. HEALTH CARE

Europeans:

As the U.S. Congress plows into gridlock again over Obamacare, Europe offers a number of examples of far more efficient health care systems. According to a Bloomberg study, four European nations rank in the top 10. Apparently, the U.S. could learn something from Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Sweden.

Americans:

In fact, of the 48 nations surveyed, the U.S. ranked 46, edging out only Serbia and Brazil.

. CHEESE

Europeans:

Europe produces wonders such as Gruyere, Parmesan and Feta.

Americans:

Meanwhile, this yellow, nondescript foodstuff bears the name "American."

3. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Europeans:

Across the pond, larger citiesflaunt extensive metrosand buses circumnavigate nearly every town. Granted, the U.S. takesthreedays to drive across, but a high-speed train inGermany is the closest thing to being in "Star Trek" as any modeof transport in this half of the 21st century.

Americans:

What's that? You don't live in New York/Washington/Chicago and don't havea car? OK. Enjoy waiting for your transfer bus for the next three hours.

4. SONG CONTESTS

Europeans:

Theannual EurovisionSong Contest bringsout the best (and sometimes theworst) of pop music. But asmuchas anything, it takes nationalism, shakes it up with a whole bunch of ridiculous, and popsout an entertaining spectacle.

Get ready for five minutes of Eurovision awesome.

Americans:

"American Idol" was once a juggernaut. But for a good chunk of the show's running, half the fun hasjust been watching how terrible thetryoutsare.

5. LIFE EXPECTANCY

Europeans:

Switzerland and San Marino -- the microstatesurrounded by Italy --tied Japan for the world'slongest lifeexpectancy, at 83 years, according to a 2011 World Health Organization study. From there, eight European nationstied for fourth place, at 82 years, including Italy, Andorra and Sweden. In fact, 24 European nationsrank ahead of the U.S. on thelist, whichcomesin at...

Americans:

...No. 33, just one spot ahead of cuba

6. FOOTBALL (SOCCER)

Europeans:

Europeannations have won 10 of 19 World Cups, led by Italy, Germany and reigning world champ, Spain. And you don't haveto wait four years to seesoccer magic — the 2012 UEFA Champions League final drew a global audience of 150 million on average, compared to 106 millionfor the 2013 super bowl.

Americans:

TheU.S.'sbest finish came its first time in the World Cup — third placein 1930.

Then it didn't qualify for the tournament for 40 yearsafter 1950.

7. VACATION TIME

Europeans:

Thetop seven nationsin the world, in termsof time off? All European. Austriansget 35 (35!) paid days off per year. Nobody criticizes themfor being lazy.

CHOCOLATE

Europeans:

When anyone says the word "Belgian," three thingscome to mind: Beer, wafflesand Jean-Claude VanDamme.

But seriously. Belgium and chocolate are practically synonymous.

Americans:

M&Msare tasty and all, but that candy-coated shell can't hold a candleto Brussels' finest.

correction..... Eurovision is popular because of how weird it is.

Nobody votes on talent. The music is really all a front. Its more like a popularity contest between nations. Everyone just votes for there favorite country.

You have cheaper fuel. I wouldn't wish a bus ride in my area on anyone.

You have this obsession with putting cheese on everything you eat even though your cheese is like processed rubber.

However.... You have easy access to all those fast food outlets I wish I had.

A socialist healthcare system changed this country for the better. Socialism in genral sorted out poverty massively. But now corrupt azz holes are selling assets taxes paid for to line their own pockets.

I see good and bad at either side of the pond.

But I still think you have better lives. Your weather is nicer, food and land are more abundant.

We dont even have freedom of speech which many Americans take for granted.

I will say though that europe has been around way longer than USA and you should not ignore our history when planning your future. When we argue with you its usually because we dont want you to make the same mistakes we did.
