I hear the word being thrown around alot in this forum but do you really know what it means to be a racsist. Maybe some of these so called experts in this forum can shed some light on the meaning.

When it comes to prejudice, it means that you hate another group of people because of some negative stereotype you have towards them, whereas racist means you harbor feelings of superiority over another race that you feel is inferior. Some of us are prejudice and some of us our racist, but in the case of the title of your thread, I strongly feel convinced that us blacks can't be racist, but prejudice due to our historical nature of being open minded, nonxenophobic, and far more accepting than whites and Asians, and the disparity of racial balances. By that, I mean that us blacks have systematically and historically been the victims of racism from whites and Asians who are the aggressors of racism, not to say that us blacks can't be aggressors of racism too as we can, but it's very rare as we aren't in power to oppress anyone using racism, let alone tolerate it from anybody. Perhaps I should say that us blacks are the LEAST racist group of people since we are also more forgiving amd compassionate about it than whites and Asians.

Thank you Mack i see you are a person with knowledge of self i say this because you hit on the point i was trying to make that there are no black people in this country who have the power to be racist and have their predjudice affect other people but how many ex-clan members are now in politics, police chiefs and sherriffs and even worse in the supreme court.A great example of this is the appartide in South Africa where racist white men passes laws against blacks based strictly on their prejudice we in this country dont have this kind of power. Thanx for responding MAck u can ignore the message i left on your thread u prove yourselve to me in the response you gave. You are way off.
Prejudice is the prejudging of someone. It doesnt have to be race based.
Racist is the dislike or intolerance of someone based on thier race. I will suggest that any race can be racist.
What your confusing this with is the power of oppresion. Certainly I would agree that blacks do not have the position at this point to oppress other races. But absolutely they can be racist by definition.

Understand i know the diference between prejudice and being racist and even with your definitions you didnt prove anything except you no how to read i looked up the definition of the word in more than one dictionary combined with the ideal that being a racist more time than not had to do beind able to oppress or affect in any way ones which you have a stereotype against. Black people in this country dont have that kind of power and in a kind of way your definitions help prove my point especially your first one.So thank You the Original ohReally wrote: prej·u·diced [préjjədist] adj holding prejudices: holding opinions, especially unfavorable ones, that are based on insufficient knowledge, irrational feelings, or inaccurate stereotypes Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2004 Microsoft Corporation. Where in the history of this country has black peoples intlorence of whites or any body else resulted in the laws of that land being a reflection of those prejudice ideals? Hmmm! And thats based on your defintion of being racist. cville_baddog wrote: You are way off. Prejudice is the prejudging of someone. It doesnt have to be race based. How do you define racist that laws have to be enacted. There are many whites who are racist - where there are no laws supporting thier racism. Racism is not a legal concept.

actually cville, he has a point. as we all know racism is taught, not inherited. I remember someone telling me that if you put a black kid and a white kid in a sandbox, they'll play together peacefully but if the parents start imparting racist ideas, as the kids grow older, they'll conform to that.

First off the comment about black people being ignorant is uncalled and ignorant itself so your a coward for that, cause i wasnt trying to go there but you took it there, second and i bet you couldnt have enough text to put up the numbers killed by white men including africans and native americans, and you account for missing persons being counted as being killed by these men. Even with your numbers it doesnt prove anything or disprove the brutality done by the white man not only in this country but wherever they land it just proves in some cases black men can be just as violent.Plus we were talking about MOVIES so why do you think serial killers in the MOVIES are always white it must mean white people enjoy seeing one of there own killing people by dismemberment. SO KEEP IT CIVIL WILL YA! Tony Lemore wrote: African-American Serial Killers (# of victims in parentheses.) Daniel Andrew Bowler (3), Richmond, VA George Russell (3 women), WA state Timothy W. These things you mention were put there to protect people of color against racist people who aquired the power to oppress these people in the first place so please do continue. And how many people were lynched, unlawfully jailed ,and segragated against before these laws were put into place. So there is no ignorance on this side you better get the whole story first.Ever heard of a big a*s racist law called JIM CROW. the Original ohReally wrote: <quoted text>Ummmmmmm...... Antidiscrimination laws Hate crime laws affirmitive action Shall I continue? Or would you ptrefer to ignore FACT and persue your lifetime of ignorance and misinterpretation.....your choice. Just because some afrocentric activists claim that racism is ONLY possible through oppression, does not make it so. And just because some misguided torch bearers buy into the lie, does NOT distort the facts. Sorry, you're WRONG.

Racism is taught, not inherited. That means it does not matter what race you are. Once an ignorant person puts the seed inside a young child, the child takes it for the TRUTH, NOW is up to that child when he grows up to find out for himself what the truth really is OR live in ignorance as you see here on some of this comments.
