First, I don't belive AAs envy PRs. What I see is that they feel superior. That being said, let say that your racial assumption about Puerto Ricans isn't applicable to each and every Puerto Rican as the following excerpt points out.

==========

Just keep in mind that of the 77 towns on the Island, all of the interior (Cordillera Mountain Region) were settled by Europeans during the mid-to-late 1800s, which historically speaking was yesterday. Natives were essentially gone from the landscape 3 centuries before and Sub-Saharan slavery was NEVER much of a presence since slavery was banished in the late 1800s.
And not one of these towns was a slave port (on the coast only)or had many plantations.

Slavery in Puerto Rico NEVER reached the social, economic or commercial scope that it did in Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti), Cuba or Jamaica.
When slavery did exist in Puerto Rico, it was present almost exclusively in the coastal ports, while the central region of the Island remained essentially uninhabited til the 1800s.
So while that may be YOUR DNA profile, those DNA profiles vary greatly from region to region. These central Island areas were settled primarily by EUROPEAN immigrants who came from Maritime Spanish Provinces of Mallorca and Canary Islands, all regions of Iberian Spain, Corsica and French (white) emigres who fled Haiti during the Slave Revolts that chased the the white planters off the Island.

Irish immigrants, German merchants and even documented English, Dutch and Danish families fleeing to an Island that had NO history of civil war came also and stayed.
Even White colonists from mainland South America (especially Venezuela) came to settle in Puerto Rico to flee the continuous colonial chaos they could no longer live under.
In fact, there is documented immigration from French Louisiana of people known today as "Cajuns" who the fledgling "USA" purchased the Louisiana Territory in 1803, fled to Puerto Rico to re-establish their agrarian farms. They fled because they were French and often Spanish-speaking Catholics and they knew that life would be difficult for them when English-Speaking "American" Yankees would take over.
So in recap. ALL of Puerto Rico is NOT ONE BIG race orgy. You will find people who are predominantly or even exclusively European, Sub-Saharan (a minority), and to lesser degree "indigenous".

Ladies and gentlemen, PLEASE. This stale atmosphere of racial bickering and mutual belittling is contradictory to our mutual learned experience. Let's leave that to folks with outdated, misinformed notions of racial purity and chauvinistic ideals. The truth is, when we speak ill of others out of our experience, it's because we have dealt with less enlightened members of humanity, of which there are specimens in every race. I have met fine people, black, white, Native American and mixed from the Dominican Republic to Curazao and up the Central American Isthmus back into the 'states, and I have met some real stinkers too. It's up to each of us individually to choose to be big and sort our battles, because folks will be folks, WHEREVER you're from.

Marcus, if you think that a good woman reaches a point where she disrespects her man solely because of somebody new who has come along, you have a lot to learn. Secondly, you contradict your obvious front of superiority by your statement that us Latinos induce black women to think less of black men (I can't imagine why you would think that). The only way I could see that as true, would be if some black women found Latinos more appealing in comparison, which should be none of your business unless you've been stung by that bug or you feel threatened as a man. If that's the case, I feel sorry for you (at a distance) dog.

How are blacks jealous of Puerto Ricans when its the Puerto Ricans that are trying to be like us. Everything Blacks comeup with, the Puerto Ricans copy it. Our clothing, style, everything we do they copy. And as for Puerto Rican women, you are hot, but when you get old, you faces start to wrinkle. Black don't crack!! Whoever did this thread is certainly jealous of Blacks because they can't be like us.

For starters, the Puerto Rican culture is a melting pot of African, Spaniard and Taino. However, most of the Puerto Rican culture is deeply rooted in Africa culture and history. Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, your religion, identity and many of your foods is African based. Do your research. Santaria, a Puerto Rican religion is based in West Africa as well as Merengue, Salsa is based in sub-Saharan traditions, Bachata has African roots. Many of your foods is based in traditional African/Caribbean cuisine just like many other Caribbean islands such as Jamaica, Haitian, Barbados, etc.

If you've ever been to Puerto Rico, much of Puerto Rico is the slums, tin homes and violent. Outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico looks like every other island. Living in the Bronx (the 2nd largest population of Puerto Rican's outside of Puerto Rico) this idea that all Puerto Rican woman is sexy is a myth. Just like every other race of people, you have ugly and you have beauty. As a black woman, I've had plenty of Puerto Rican men attempt to date me and have dated a very attractive, tall, handsome Puerto Rican man who prefers black women. Get off your high horse and fall through a trap door.

You are not mentioning that mainland Puerto ricans have intermarried with non Puerto ricans. Usually the white pr's Marry with white Americans, and darker ones marry blacks, or mixed races.

I grew up around Puerto ricans, and most looked European. I have even seen many Irish looking ones because they have Irish in them too. Very few black looking PR's.

White Americans are not pure white. It's sage to assume that many have a little Indian and black in them, but they look pure.

I think it's ok to feel closest to the image we see in our mirrors no matter how mixed we are. The ine drop black rule in the US is dead and buried.

. If you were educated, you would know Puerto Ricans are African and Spanish mixed. So you are also African and how can African Americans be jealous of a culture that originated from Africa? Your great great great grandparents also arrived in Puerto Rico on a slave ship. You need to study history before complaining about something you apparently have no knowledge of.

Actually, I find N.Reyes to be one of those Boricuas who have a strong Taino trait/flav in 'em. ;-D So not all PR Amerindians are actually gone for good, some of their legacy still lingers on. ;-)
Much of it can be seen in the much of PR vocabulary.

Like "cucubano" for the Spanish "luciernaga" and
"guaraguau" for the Spanish halcon.

a shirtless Puerto Rican male next to a shirtless black male projects a strength of medium tan over dark complexion, even when both have the same muscle composition. this is an advantage for the PR over black as it illustrates more self-esteem and confidence. non-blacks generally feel better about their bodies while blacks are continually languishing.

Interesting! Which dialects are they?

Excerpt

Many Taíno implements and techniques were copied directly by the Europeans, including the bohío (straw hut) and the hamaca (hammock), the musical instrument known as the maracas, and the method of making cassava bread. Many Taino words persist in the Puerto Rican vocabulary of today. Names of plants, trees and fruits includes: maní, leren, ají, yuca, mamey, pajuil, pitajaya, cupey, tabonuco and ceiba. Names of fish, animals and birds includes: mucaro, guaraguao, iguana, cobo, carey, jicotea, guabina, manati, buruquena and juey. As well as other objects and instruments: güiro, bohío, batey, caney, hamaca, nasa, petate, coy, barbacoa, batea, cabuya, casabe and canoa. Other words were passed not only into Spanish, but also into English, such as huracan (hurricane) and hamaca (hammock). Also, many Taíno superstitions and legends were adopted and adapted by the Spanish and still influence the Puerto Rican imagination.

there's a lot more out in the world than meets the eye and it usually involves a physically and sexually dominant Puerto Rican male and a weaker, sexually inferior black male. the black increasingly, yet probably secretly, desires to see his woman getting banged by the PR.
