Africa need to figure out their own solutions... What Hugo Chavez did for Venezuela was phenomenal.. Free schooling, Low cost housing, and setting up trade with other countries via fuel contracts.. Venezuela has a lot to thank the recently departed president... Vaya con dios Hugo Chavez!
He did a lot of good things but the economy suffered under his watch.

Oh, I did not realize this discussion became about me, I was busy having business meetings yesterday.

so let's go through the questions. Why am I here? Because I wanted to get a third masters degree, i took all the entrance exams, scored in the top percentile and got tons of schools offering me a place. I added my savings (built up from working in banking in Ghana) to what my family gave to me, bought a ticket and came here to continue my education. Also travelling opens your eyes so that you dont say stupid things all all whiteys or asians hate you. You realize when you travel that the world is a multitude of causes and effects, not one mantra.

2. i have not migrated here for good, on the contrary, I plan to be here until my current research project is over. We got some good contracts and so as a research analyst my salary is now over $150,000 and will be so for the next four years. The projects take me all over the world and since I love travelling, i will continue working on the projects for the next few years.

3. i go home every year to visit. it is nicer to be home, more relaxing, around smart people who speak multiple languages and real english, women who are not obnoxious and actually want to build a real family. and the organic food just makes me healthier when I go back home. I have bought a house that i rent to an american working at the american embassy (see, I do get some of the money allocated to the state department after all). This american guy loves Ghana so much that he is trying to find a job to stay there longer.

4. I have a future, I know that I will be able to earn more when I go back home because so many international companies are hiring africans. My goal is never to stay here for too long, just make my dough, get to travel the world on my job (been to all continents now) and go and help the ongoing development.

Do you think that AID is just given in checks signed by developed nations? lol. Sure your governments are corrupt, and a minimal amount of the AID is exploited by them.
Most of the AID money is spent on projects. Housing, food, MEDS, physicians, schools, etc., etc.
I really DO wish that developed nations would stop holding the hands of African nations. Stop ALL aid. No matter where the aid is going, to the people or to the tyrants, it spells bad news for your people. You unappreciative dullard.
Pedophiles? African men of all ages are gang raping babies (mostly under three) because they think it will cure their AIDS.
Ah. Patrice Motsepe. Seems like a good guy. Its about time that an African did something FOR Africa. But I wont really believe it until the funds are transferred. I mean he is pledging half of his net worth (which is falling). I mean he is poor compared to Gates and Buffet, they are both worth 50+ billion, while Motsepe is worth 2.7 billion.
Get off of the Jenkem.
Dont kid yourself, the aid money goes to the pockets of corrupt politicians and supporting US government and aid workers. Housing projects with aid money. You must be smoking. Real estate prices in most african urban areas now exceeds $200,000 and it is all capitalist buying and selling. and the local mortgage industries are booming.

And as I said, a number of African countries have actually asked western nations to stop the charade of announcing aid figures that are overinflated and never get down to anyone.

Is Africa perfect? No, but the spirit of optimism, the desire to work hard of the middle and poor classes is just amazing when you compare it to the pessimistic state in this country. Unless you travel to see it yourself, you will not know. and that anecdote of raping babies to cure aids was recorded only in South Africa (population of less than 50 million out of the 1 billion on the continent). Even in south africa, only a few cases were actually reported so stop holding it up like 1 billion people were doing it. as I always say, i could also generalize my five muggings in this country from young brothers, but I will rather focus on being a mentor to the ones at my job and manning the desk at my apartment block.

Patrice Motsepe is getting richer not poorer. The one who is getting poorer is Oprah, she is the only AA on the top black billionnaires list (check Forbes). when she falls off, the only billionnaires will be Africans. That tells you all that you need to know about who controls african economies. I know you cannot believe it because it blows your mind and in your communities you cannot imagine black people earning millions and billions. your disbelief will not stop the process.
