1. If it were not for Africans in America you would not have this land of opportunity as a refuge.

2. For most of America's history it has not been a great place for Africans.

3. Learn something about American history and sociology before you make hateful remarks about an entire ethnic group.

Lol all of this. Who cares. You are a human period. People who argue about race issues are honestly immature. G ow up, accept yourself, accept others and life will be better.

HideRacial and ethnic groups

The ethnic composition of the Dominican population is 75% multiracial, 16% white, and 11% black. The population is primarily a mixture of European and African with a notable amount of Taíno ancestry (each of varying degrees).Even the white and black population have varying degrees of Spanish, African, and Taíno blood. There is also a large Haitian minority. Other groups in the country include the descendants of Southwest Asians—mostly Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians. A smaller, yet significant presence of East Asians (primarily ethnic Chinese and Japanese) can also be found throughout the population.

The differences between Dominicans and Haitians started on Feb 9th, 1822. When the Haitians invaded the recently independent Dominican state which gained it independence from Spain on Dec 1st 1821. That started the exile of thousand of white Dominicans who were being abused because of their color, there was rape, murder, and taking the land of any Dominican by force by Haitian soldiers, Even the Spanish language was prohibited, in other words, the Haitians tried to erase the Dominicans from the island. These days the problem is economical, the recent migration by millions of poor Haitians to Dominican Republic, is causing a huge burden on Dominican tax payers who have to share hospitals , school and the work place with millions of illegals .The uncontrolled migration is also bringing sickness like Colera and others, that were eradicated in the DR ,now they are back with Millions of poor Haitians, This is also causing widespread unemployment, lack of services and the more and more slums popping up all over the country, in Many cities like Santiago , its common to see Haitians women bathing naked on the street , which have anger the local Dominican communities.
And to answer the Color question... I have never heard any Dominican that is not proud of who he or she is... we love having black and Spanish blood, Africa in our color, hair, music, festivities and culture...We just don't like to be associated with the country that once tried to erase us from our own country, and now is saying that we are brothers. Would you consider a Sister or brother someone that once tried to kill you????...
Lets be realistic here...please

It's not that Dominicans are racist, it's that " black " doesn't fully describe them. They have a language , flag etc. black is nothingness because it is just a color description . It's about culture. I'm from one of the most heavily populated dominican cities in America and generally blacks and Dominicans get along well. There's only a problem when black folks try to tell them what they are.

Dominicans are very racist. Especially against AA's. As a black woman, i can't even count the number of times i've entered their restaurants, stores, etc and been talked about, laughed at, disrespected, etc. Sometimes as i was actually handing them my money. They are no more mixed than any other people of color in the world. Samoans, Jamaicas, Trinidadians, Southern creoles are all mixed also. As are puerto ricans. Yet you have many of them who proudly acknowledge their african lineage. If the smooth singer Sade or our president identify as black people, what the hell is their problem?

it's pretty sad. if i were in that position and half of me is.. lol i'd hate the "not knowing" part.
i can trace my mother's side all the way back to spain.. my father's side is just a bunch of dead ends and trying to like go through slave records that were sh*ttily kept.
i used to HATE doing family trees when i was in school because my mother's side looked like a tree.. my dad's side is like a f*ckin branch.
i could easily go on my father's side maybe like to great grand parents.. after that it's a bust unless i heave through like major slave documentation.
that's why i took one of those DNA tests because i wanted to find out more about his side and i was pretty shocked to find out that my genetic markers had a predominance of e3b which is from east africa.. it's odd, because east africans weren't part of the slave trade.
i've never met my father so i can't ask him, but it's a trip.
So, this is the root of all of your hate for black people. You seem to think that you're above African Americans for some odd reason. I don't know why. It's very silly, quit the bullsh*t.

Cut the crap. Not one of you actually did something great. Most of the actors here aren't even known internationally. You are only known for baseball, your pathetic reggaeton and baseball. Don't pretend to be something that you're not. At least black people here in America have a much more powerful and unique history. You do not.

It's a reflection of the prejudiced Latin American notion that lighter is better. To be sure, Dominicans tend to be predominantly Black yet with more mixture than most Haitians. But you have quite a few dark skinned Domincans as well.

Why would the percent who have European-only heritage and who are legitimately a part of the Latin American European Diaspora identify themselves as African blacks? Also, why aren't you hysterically demanding that your 33% mixed- with- black USA "Anglos" identify with black?

I don't know much about Dominicans, but what I do know about is African Americans, being I am African American. Because someone speaks of your countrymen negatively is no reason for you to talk down about a whole race you know nothing about, history or otherwise. It's quite easy to use propaganda that has been used for a few centuries to put a negative light on a people. If you consider yourself an educated person with a normal amount of intelligence, you would know that most of what you hear does not apply to the race as a whole, just as any negative comments about you & your people do not represent all Dominicans. And I guess what's unfortunate for you, because of your dark skin & coarse hair you will always be considered black before anything else until you open your mouth.

When Domonican first migrated to the U.S. They register themselves s white even the one who look like David Ortiz, but only was allowed to live in east Harlem next to afroamerican and Purto ricans ,if anybody know New York ,Washington Heights is a Domonican enclave it almost the same as Harlem, they recognize that were black ,they live next to afroamerican they could not live in white neighborhood they were very happy to be protected by there afroamerican brothers but they still bid not have much rispect for them, when they civil rights law was passed 1968 and they have equal rights they start to volunteer to join neo natzi organization to eliminate blacks that,s a shame.
