Abortion has been legal for 40 years in this country, Chicken Little. The sky is not falling. We are not going the way of China.
What is the difference in culture that will keep us from having the same problems? I would agree with you forty years ago but our culture has changed.

Wow, really? Why are you here, when you obviously don't know what you're debating about?

We could be. I told you what some of their societal problems are and you can't see the similarities. We will not, with the birth rate dropping have enough money provided by workers to sustain social security and government health insurance, just like China.
We also have women aborting girl babies especially in 'cultures' that prize boys that have moved to this country.

You of course make your usaul contribution of "the sky is not falling" whoopie.

In fact, that was the first time I'd said that, but then again, you're not big on facts.

Worried about your entitlements, huh? Do what I do, save money for your own retirement. Abortion being legal is not to blame for the crisis of Social Security. People living longer, hence drawing on it longer is the biggest issue. Also, children receiving death benefits (and yes, my children did when their father died) are another issue, since it wasn't that long ago that they could retain those benefits simply by staying in college. Professional students, in other words. And so many on disability is another issue. Not to mention the gov't siphoning off what they perceived as a "surplus" to meet their needs since the 80s.

No one is aborting "babies" at all. Still, you'd have to prove not only that anyone is having abortions just because the fetus is female, but that it's a society-wide phenomenon as it is in China.

We have plenty for social security. We're just using it for too many extraneous things like foreign aid.

There is no known problem with gender-based abortion here.

Do I really have to find charts and post them to show you that a huge part, something like 70-80% of government expenses are for entitlements and every year there are more recipients and fewrer payers.
Also in many immigrant areas girl fetuses are being aborted regulary and it is happening in families that only want one child, a boy. I can, if you don't want to look it up yourself, provide links.

Yes, you must prove your implication that abortion being legal is the reason Social Security is in trouble, and that women are "regularly" aborting female fetuses, and that it's not just a few isolated incidents.

Legal abortion contributes to lower birth rate. A lower birth rate means there are fewer people to pay into the system to support the people on the system. States are drawing up laws to prevent gender selection abortions. If it wasn't happening they would need laws against it.

How naive of you. Of course they need to pretend this is an issue, to stir up voters.

Still, this is you speculating, not proving that abortion is the reason Social Security is in trouble (or even that fewer people paying in is the reason), nor is it proof that as a society we are aborting fetuses just because they are female as in China.

You said you could prove it. Go ahead.

Gee Ink.....why are females aborted? Ever ask yourself that question? Why are men more valued?? Ever ask yourself that question? What societal aspects could influence the devaluing of females? I think it is VERY devaluing of women when you consider them brood mares and their only worth connected to their uterus.

I say those that favor men....let them do without women. Serves them right, they asked for their unstable circumstances let them live with it and continue valuing men being the dumb asses they are.

The largest single expense is our military, where billions could be shaved off without affecting preparedness. Cut those expenses and unnecessary foreign aid and that alone would shore up SS; cut corporate welfare to companies that send jobs overseas would help as well. Are women just supposed to breed like rabbits to pay your SS?

Since women don't have to give reasons to abort in the first trimester, why would your concerns matter? And how could you even verify that gender-based abortions are occurring?

How many states have passed voter ID laws even though there is no proof of it being a problem?

Exactly, and there are many women who don't regret their abortions for a minute. They only regret GETTING pregnant in the first place. Some of their personal stories are at the site below.

The "ink" poster reminds me of that backward-thinking regressive idiot Phyllis Schlafly, who couldn't deal with prochoice or progressive women. Anti-choice imbeciles like "ink" are big on conservative hysteria based on nothing, and NOT too big on FACTS.

I think "ink" at one point said she's a woman, even though she's an anti-choice fanatic. She reminds me of all the anti-choice women fanatics; Phyllis Schlafly, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin...you get the idea.:)

You may be thinking of someone else. Ink is a woman, or at least has always claimed to be.
