LOL Now this question had me laughing. What do you mean by "step up for black people"? Ha ha I'm starting to detect a lil chip on your shoulder here? Do you mean why can't biracial people represent white peeps?
But please, enlighten me.

If I did "step up" for black people, as a light skinned woman I am still black. Only darker skinned black people are "real" black people??? I don't know what that means.

Well I dunno what you mean by "step up"? If you mean that light skinned people represent the good half of black people I think thats a little far fetched. But if you mean that we are more easily accepted by Whites then I guess you could say that. I don't think it really matters what tone you are black is beautiful and so is white, if you are both great, if you are one or the other thats great too. I think everyone has something positive to contribute to society.

are you talking about how most of the black leaders are light skinned?

Or...are you trying to say that light skinned/mulatto people are the first to step up for black people as a way of proving their ‘blackness’? Please reply back because I/we are truly curious as to what you are trying to ask.

I prefer the term bi-racial instead of mulatto. I have a biracial daughter, and someone called her mulatto last week. I told them : She is not mulatto, she is bi-racial. I am not trying to be rude to you, but I think that word is ignorant. Just like calling s biracial person "mixed". I absolutly hate that term.

Mulatto means 'young mule,' a derivative from mulo, which means mule.

Don't worry. the way the game is going now, noone will ask why light skinned black folks are the the first to stand up and speak on mess cuz they won't be light skinned black folks anymore. The light skinned black that you see now trying to do right are the last of the mohicians going by the drop rule. Once they're gone, the new crop will have no sense of responsibilty cause they will be labeled neutral(words bi, multi, colored, mixed, etc)characters. For some reason it seem like black folks are targeted bc our skin vary to very light to very dark.

Another reason why light skinned blacks maybe the first to stand up to wrong stuff cuz their mixed blood is like a spider sense and can pick up on another race BS that so called pure black can't detect(LOL). That's gonna change too with the younger generation growing up with new conditioning.

Man, people have such small narrow-minded views and questions to ask. I've heard my sons head start classmates ask more important question then some people on this forum.

Maybe lighter skinned blacks have more ambition because of their Caucasian genes?
Oh please! A biracial person can be brown skinned, and a very fair skinned black person can be mostly black. Complexion is not a good indicator of how much Caucasian blood a person has. Besides, every Caucasian person is not ambitious!

Some of the most ambitious black people are not light skinned.

Are you serious??? This must be the new version of racism because this is not the first time I have heard this nonsense.

I dont even know why people responded to this, it obviously was trap, he or she didnt even give an example and people came running, why because a white person cannot think of a situation that would sound real to a black person reading it.

Divide and conquer......another ploy to get us fighting against each other.

Racists are usually uneducated, so anger is unnecessary. I prefer to educate.

Then why are all the shades called black when only a small percentage is actually black in color? Is it because in the past all were actually black and through the years the white blood has started working its way through? I do notice that most lighter skin "blacks" also tend on average to have more Caucasian features and body too...so can't just be a coincidence...?
Just to correct you, no percentage is actually black in color. It may be a coincidence in your mind that lighter skinned blacks tend to have more caucasian features.

Not a coincindence...think about the dilution from the master to what we have now, how many can say they are truly BLACK.
