Lighten up my Cubanita hermana, she's just working on her written literacy in espanol! No harm in that, particularly if she is posting to someone who she knows speaks the language; besides, English is not exactly "OUR LANGUAGE" either. And as far as the rolling of the R's....it's all in the vibration of the tip of the tongue against the roof of the mouth, don't you agree? "errrr"

The op is wrong. Thriving isn't easy for anyone. Especially when you strive to do more than just monotonous and brainless work.
But at least you know the biggest problem whether one agrees with the op or not, is the response from some of these males.
The op is right :), but yes we can agree that some of the responses from the men were less than stellar.

What I also find interesting is that none of you black women even made the attempt to speak on what some of the males were saying, especially the ones attacking the black man that seeks education.

I guess from that it should be apparent that black women do in fact support this mode of thinking and are equally responsible for it.

And not just the "pro black" sisters as well, but the Irbw as well.

First of all, as a son of a bw, father of a black daughter and a brother to my sisters, I would certainly encourage every black woman to take advantage of every opportunity that is availed to her; leaving no stones unturned, nor crumbs on the floor. However, you guys are being disingenuous if you believe that success for either male or female is based solely upon individual hard work and efforts. That is an oversimplification of life as we know it!
If sisters are going to make the argument that their achievements are attributable singularly to their hard work and dedication without being specifically provided opportunities to succeed, then it can be reasoned, rather argued that all those years prior to the civil rights, that black women failed to achieve economic independence was due to some innate deficiency....WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS NOT TRUE. This was clearly because they, we, were disenfranchised and keep outside of the gates of opportunity, denied the right to self determination.
Hard work, dedication to goals and aspirations and education are certainly imperatives to success but all of that without opportunity is useless in achieving the ends of economic independence. Their are people with Law degrees and MBA's that are not being given opportunities in this rotten economy that are not fulfilling their potential. In other words, non of us....especially economically.....are islands unto ourselves.
Having said that, though the OP may be well intended, black women should not stop or slow down the engine of achievement because of bm's perceived lack of achievements. In the aggregate, black men earn considerable sums of money, we just lack institutional and organizational structure to recycle this capital in a way to engender group prosperity. And thought it is a central part of our collective inertia, our group dysfunction runs much deeper than just economics,
So the Black race in its entirety has not yet learned to work together to achieve economic parity?

What is there to be responsible for? To me, that's like asking someone who has acquired wealth through hard work to apologize for it. I'm not rick but I support wealth attainment. I'm just one of those who believes there is a right and wrong way to get it.

Am I supposed to go somewhere and cry about this? Did I give the impression I want you? Again, you HAD to get someone who didn't know what the f!ck you were talking about to get with you. That means all of us who knew your language and understood your bullsh!t told you to go f!ck yourself long before you bought a one way to Japan or whatever out of the way place you had to go in order to get a date. Plus you've already admitted you stink. So, please tell me what is there I'm supposed to cry about??

To achieve economic parity with whom? I'm not sure if parity should be our objective, but rather becoming self sufficient in a meaningful economic way where we can demand a seat at the table of power by virtue of our productivity. Collectively, we are too ideologically fragmented with very view few loyalties to the collective.

The black community no longer exist, we have black neighborhoods, but no black communities because communities are quasi corporations that economically, socially and morally functions as a cohesive unit in the interest of not only the preservation of its denizens, but for their growth and proliferation as well, ensuring the said community it's proportional share of the Materialistic pie.

So though black America has slightly above a trillion dollar GDP if measured by our collective incomes, it is ineffectively leveraged on behalf of the group. Sadly, this place is a microcosm of the larger Macrocosm that is Black America. To borrow and paraphrase and ex president, " A people divided against itself, can not stand."
