I've noticed a trend, more and more of my african american college student peers are getting Tattoos on their necks. And its usually something stupid like their names in some fancy cursive or something. What I don't understand is why would a college student, who clearly cares about their future enough to go to college, get a tattoo on their neck?! At some point they are going to have to sit down on an interview. Who is going to hire them for any type of professional job with a big tattoo on their neck???

They're becoming so popular; I used to think it was strange but it doesn't even phase me anymore. Looks ugly to me; black, white, male or female. Looks too painful too. What are they running out of space on the rest of their bodies to put a damn tatoo?

Many people here would also agree that a white man has a better chance to get a job then a black man because of all the racism out there.. So why make it that much harder on yourself?

I have seen these neck tattoos on white people, but its always white trashy gangster wannabes, who also clearly have no future. But I see it much more often on black students.

I see it on students and I know two or three Brothers who has tatoos on their necks but they are tow truck drivers, not IBM executives.

I never understood that trend either and tattoos especially look unattractive on a woman's neck.Tattoos certainly affect your chances of being hired at a white collar job in your interview session since it looks unprofessional and tacky.I'm so glad I never wanted tattoos on my body for that reason.

And if the company frowns upon it you have to wear a turtle neck every day. Even during the summer.

My point exactlly... Don't need to go to college to be a tow truck driver. Find me one african american, who went to college, has a big tattoo on their neck, and landed a successful well paying job. In my opinion if an african american puts a tattoo on their neck like that they are no longer allowed to play the "race card". Did you not get the job cause of your skin color or your tattoo? Did you get arrested because you are black or because you look like a gang member with that Giant tattoo? Do people think you will be a bad father because you are black or because you put stupid tattoos on your neck?

Whether one is a college student or not, that person with a tattoo on their neck is stupid. What I don't get are people who have their face tattooed, and yet want others to take them serious!!

In my culinary profession tattos are generally accepted (as art pieces)..but a tat on the neck is like...wtf, did you get that in prison??? No I'd never..why???

But otherwise yep tatted for days, I can cover all of mine quite easily, and comfortably when I want to, if I wanted to.

Got my first when I was 15, Mexican hommie did it for me with a home made gun(battery and a pen or something). Now ((about)) 15 years later, still don't regret any of them. Some do, some don't. I think it depends on your motivations.

Don't judge, body ink has been around for thousands of years...

I wonder why women get tattoos of past lover names across their chest? If that isn't cheap then I don
t know what is?

In fact, why would anyone put the name of past lovers tattooed anywhere on their body? Including portraits too.

I've been seeing an awful lot of Asian women with neck tattoos. To me, a tattoo on the back of a woman's neck is ugly, to say the least!! If Asian women want to look ugly with a tattoo on the back of their neck, then they can go right ahead and do it, because I really don't care what women do with their bodies, their already ugly and slutty!!!

Tattoos to some people are a form of art. it is to me, but i wouldn't get one on my neck though. But what society should understand is that every tattoo'd person isn't a criminal or drug and sex addicted low-life. Like if i was a manager of a business i wouldnt pass up someone having a tattoo in their neck because i might be passing up one of the best employees that i could ever hire.
