I don't have a problem with IR on the big screen. I just wish they'd show black couples in a more positive light. Black couples are usually very disfunctional and abusive in American films.

Very little positivity. And I've seen a lot of American films with AA stars...anything from poetic justice, clockers, juice, Malcolm X, harlem nights, sparkle, vampire in brooklyn, five heart beats, fresh, love and basketball, action Jackson, car wash, the wiz, super fly, sugar hill, school daze, do the right thing....I have seen a lot of movies (for the poster who said i haven't seen any black AA films).

I didn't dislike any of those movies but I do diskike Tyler Perry movies. He steretypes blacks in his movies just as bad as whites do in there's. Only difference is whites make much better storylines that I tend to enjoy...like the color purple and blade. Unlike the posters here I'm not going to support a movie just because a black person directed the movie and it has black/biracial stars. If blacks stopped supporting mindless entertainment it would encourage directors like Tyler Perry to create better films. I am sure he will reach his quota of atleast $100 million in box office sales because black people are drawn to black films that portray blacks as ghetto and stupid. I just don't get the hype over his films....

I'll lay it on the line, I had no intentions on see this movie "The Best Man Holiday". The only reason I saw the original movie years ago was because it was showing on cable, which left me with mixed feelings. Anyway, there was absolutely nothing else playing other then "Carrie", and I think I've see enough of those remakes. The movies been so dull these last several months that I even caved in and saw "Gravity" last month. I really didn't want to see "12 years a Slave", but I saw it anyway, and it did nothing but show me "Roots" Kunte Kintes' generation on steroids.
I don't care for a lot of black movies either for the same reasons you mentioned, however you forgot to include the black woman/white man thing they also like to sneak in. On that note, I never heard anybody mention this, but every time they finish showing the previews in these movie theaters, they always show these four young people snuggled together with popcorn getting ready to enjoy the movie. They show a black girl, seated by a white boy, seated by a white girl, seated by a brother, in that given order. Then right as the movie starts, the brother disappears with only three of them left, showing the black girl seated by the white girl, seated by the white boy. Before-hand when the brother would disappear, they would show the black girl seated by the white boy, seated by the white girl, like the white boy had both girls. I guess people got hipped to that, and they stopped.
It actually took a lot for me to go see this movie because of the mixed feeling I had for the original one, plus I don't care for these black relationship movies like so many of us seem to be hooked on. Maybe after seeing "12 Years a Slave", I needed to see some free black people in a movie for a change. The humor to this movie was really a change up from the slave movie, which really stirred up a lot of emotions, mine included. But I"m still surprised how this movie turned out. It was almost like a black version of the 1946 holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life", which stared James Stewart and Donna Reed, but this had more comedy. However, they both ended touchy. I had no ideal they were going to write Monica Calhoun out of the movie. I didn't mean to give it away, but nobody here is going to see the movie anyway. But like I said in my original post, this movie could have done just as well, if not better, without sneaking in the IR garbage.

Wake up and smell the roses, you cannot hide them from the real world and WW are the epitome of beauty in this world. Since you are White washed yourself, and your man is White, your kids will probably go more towards their White side. They will look mostly White. And that means, they will most likely go White. Your son isn't going to go after some typical angry BW, he will want a sweet delicate WW. That's the reality. Unless you want to lock him up in teh basement or something, lol. My ex was a Swed so she was Blonde (very beautiful girl and with a nice body), my current girl is Italian so she has light brown hair. She is a 10 on the scale and I've been with some beautiful women in the past.
So white women are the epitome of beauty, interesting. Are you and your gf planning to adopt white daughters? If you do have mixed children your attitude is going to ensure your sons stay away from black women and your daughters are mixed nuts who end up worshiping ww and wm.Both will produce white grandsons for you.

You get no allowance, and you work. You may even make more than him. If you are even married.

See this my point! You would never set your black wife or gf up like this so your can't image any white men doing it either because many black men think that white men have the same thought processes as black men do when white men's behavior and actions have proved for centuries that they think and view women and the world nothing like black men do.

I think IR on the big screen is at the top of the list when it comes to stereotyping black people, because in this country most of them have a quabbalistic undertone to them. African-Americans in their middle ages and older can detect this better than a radar. It could't be more clearer than the example I gave of that same image of those four college aged individuals they always show after the previews and right before every main attraction. They make sure that's on the big screen without even putting it in the movie. That's subliminal advertising big time, with the purpose of undermining the black man in the long run. This brainwashing didn't just start yesterday like many here want to believe.

Actually, the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life" also had a little racial undertone to it when he received the good news and smacked his obese black maid on the butt. Do you think George Jefferson had it like that...lol. Maybe Thomas Jefferson. Today they got the white man spanking her in the bedroom every weekend, right in front of our faces, and it's a hit...go figure. I guess it's because she looks cuter than the fat maid, and he gave her a high position.

This old classic "It's a Wonderful Life" was one of the rare films depicting white people with issues similar to some of the stereotypes you mention for black movies, minus the IR dating of course, unless you want to consider the smack on the obese black maids butt a type of IR dating. But when you think about that, who does that to their maid, unless you think their a piece of property down inside.

As I said, although probably not quite a classic, "The Best Man Holiday" had a similar plot to "It's a Wonder Life". If you could enjoy that old classic every year, then you should have no problem enjoying this black holiday edition at least once, especially if you said the IR doesn't bother you. I probably won't see it again just based on that.

It's always the same plot though.
1) ghetto loud black woman with an attitude.
2) black couple that fights and are headed for divorce.
3) black man cheating. With a white woman or another black man.
4) a bunch of random events that just don't make a lot of sense.
5) token white and or Latina with a black husband that all the black women either hate or are jealous of.
But in the end they always wind up closer and come to the realization that being a negro really ain't that bad....or someone winds up dead or in prison.
I'm not wasting $30 to see that. I'll catch on Netflix in a year when I get bored with watching my fix of game of thrones, breaking bad, or supernatural....
I agree black films do need more different and better plots than the loud, violent old black ladies comedies or the we be home for the holidays movie with cheating married couples, one token nonblack woman and man or some older family member dying. I personally would love to see a all black fantasy film minus any and all black stereotypes and about a civilization of black people who lived long ago and far away, maybe even on another planet.

Let me ask you a question. Because the rumor going around here is that women leave their own culture in order to join their mans culture because the man usually is the one taking the lead in a relationship.
That being understood, can you tell me why WM weren't coming with their BW to see happy attractive BW on screen enjoying their holiday being loved in a good way by a man?
OR do BW with WM only get taken to see Scandal... and oh yeah that last James Bond movie with the black lonely secretary he gets to sleep with for fun.

We tend to use movies to show "how" and/or explain "what can be" if we come together.

So a lot of our movies will be the same theme over and over again until we all agree it's time to move on because things won't change or when we decide to actually listen and act on what we see.

No I'm talking about you specifically. Sure it happens. Most of the men I work with do it. Even the low income men I work around support their wives to the best of their ability.

You strike me as one of those that works and your income is detrimental to you and your hubby ability to pay your monthly bills.
