It's great that he's black, but that's not why I want to see him win. For me, that is just icing on the cake. But if he beats McCain in November, that WILL send an amazing message to ourselves and to the rest of the world.

Seems to me that YOU go around with a chip on the old shoulder, and dare any Black person to knock it off. I was brought up to believe, if you look for trouble you truely will find it,but just so you'll know a conversation or an encounter can take place with a Black person without controversy.

I think Edwards is doing a little bit of both. He DID save his endorsement until just the right time to land a HUGE psychological blow against Clinton - I will give him that.

But Edwards also waited until the race was all but done to endorse Obama, so I still see him as someone unwilling to take a gamble in any serious sense.

Obama could've got his throat cut by that Rev. Wright controversy and it seems Edwards would've stood by with hands in pockets and looked on... So, unless he & Barack had a secret agreement, I'm not sure if he's to be trusted.

I don't see the Edwards endorsement having any great effect. It'll just speed things up a bit is my guess -- get more superdelegates to switch over a little faster than otherwise.

Barack Obama’s dad was such an important but absent figure in his life that he devoted his first book,“Dreams From My Father,” to the search for details about his father’s life and how the quest helped forge a son’s identity.

Now, a long-forgotten essay written 43 years ago by Obama’s father has surfaced, and its contents reveal much — not only about the senior Obama’s grasp of economic theory but also about the iconoclastic politics that, his son would later write, sent him into the spiral of career disappointment that concluded with his death in 1982 in his native Kenya.

Parts of the article, titled “Problems Facing Our Socialism,” have been making the rounds on several small blogs over the past week, but Politico.com is now, for the first time, reproducing the entire piece in its original form.

I think aLOT of people assume that the black people who are for him are only for him because he's black.

Truthfully, if any black is voting for him just because he's "black" they may be disappointed, especially if they think he's gonna go all Al Sharpton.

NO, he is not there JUST for blacks, he's there for a lot of reasons that have plagued both white and black!! The type of things that everyone really needs. And he has no rage and anger.

He's not gonna be playing "black favortism" and that's why SOME blacks dont like him. But his perspective and attitude and intellect is needed to bring the commonalities together that go FAR past skin and sub-cultures. Especially since his "past" isnt limited to an American plantation but yet he still isn't white. He's the one who can see in ways others can not.

Those "either/or" days need to be trashed so we can move on to NEW and FRESH and REFRESHING things without having to listen to Cowboys and Black Church Preachers/Sharptons/Jesse's ALL the time because NONE of those dudes are hitting the button.
