A Marion County woman faces charges after she robbed a discount store, temporarily leaving her small son in the store when she fled.
Shannon Cooper, 29, was in a Dollar General store on U.S. Highway 301 when she was observed taking several items and putting them in her purse, according to an Ocala Star-Banner report.
When a store manager confronted Cooper, she grabbed the items and left the store, leaving behind her 2-year-old son and her wallet.
Cooper returned to retrieve the child when a customer picked up the boy, took him outside and yelled at Cooper to come back to get him, according to the report.
After getting the child, Cooper again left the scene. Deputies were able to use an address they found in the wallet to find Cooper at a residence in Citra. The stolen items, valued at $63.37, were on a bed.
Cooper was charged with theft, child neglect and resisting arrest without violence.
