Louisiana Creole people are those who are descended from the colonial settlers in Louisiana, especially those of French, Spanish, and African descent. The term was first used during colonial times by the early French settlers to refer to those who were born in the colony, as opposed to those born in the Old World.[3][4] After the Civil War, in response to the imposition of a binary racial classification imposed by the increasingly dominant Anglo-Saxon society, some Creole scholars such as Charles Gayarre and Alcee Fortier began to assert that the word Creole referred exclusively to people of wholly European descent.[5]
(However, the oldest Louisiana manuscript to use Creole, from 1782, applies the word to a slave.[6])
i rest my case.
There is debate as to who is "creole". Some people say it's refered to people of more or less pure african descent who were slaves born in the new world in louisiana, some say it's only folks that look mulatto with french last names and some say only white french people can use the term. All are right, because we are all creole. I said this before, i'm just repeating myself at this point.

lol wtf you can't be puerto rican and louisiana creole, unless you're ethnically louisiana creole and was born in puerto rico. I do have spanish heritage. Puerto ricans have similar/the same mixtures as creoles though so we are cousins in that regard but are nowhere culturally similar.

they said theyre criollo, you know...spanish creole. They told me they have alot of french ancestors from louisiana. Their culture is referred to as criollo. I also noticed alot of louisiana creole words came from spaniards. They had a bigger influence more than ppl realize and give them credit for

There's absolutely no 'debate' who's Yank Creole. ;-) Yank Creole's are all those Yanks who can still relate to Yank Creole culture & history from the ole French colonial times on paternal & maternal side. All the rest aren't, & ya're the least of 'em all. ;-)
