This is true. I email my white (as in legally by the US ODR "white") creole cousins every month.

And there is significant African influence in LA creole culture and language.

Louisiana creole culture is AFRO-LOUISIANIAN culture, so African culture is the BASE not an influence. There are simply European and Native influences in our culture.

And I thought we got it established that you're just a Cali mixed chick, and would stop with this "I'm creole" stuff? And saying that whites can be ethnically creole without being the descendants of Africans born in Louisiana, is like saying blacks can be ethnically cajun without being the descendants of banished Acadians from what is today Canada. Do whites identify with creole culture & identity? YES, same with blacks and Cajun culture and identity, but practicing culture and self-identification does not constitute ethnic heritage,

I doubt that African culture serves as the base for LA creole culture. I believe it is French that serves as the base with African and native influences as well as spanish, but maybe your family is from a different type of creole line than mine.(They do have different types of creoles in LA) My creole line is mostly French and Spanish white, and only fairly recently (around the mid 1800s) has my line become black (or mixed-race).

Its funny how you think your line only became mixed recently, as if the black blood is extra, and as if it isn't really who you ever are.

Then you don't know creole culture.

Listen closely, Creoles = Descendants of Africans born in the colonies. So these culture of these various Africans serves as the cutlure of Louisiana creole today, and the European & Natives influences in it are due to forced contact with these people. French people are simply that, French people or Franco-Americans, if you will. Not Creoles. We are Afro-Louisianian.

Whites can NOT be ethnically creole. Self-identification and cultural practices don't constitute ethnicity. But, I'll tell you what- If you can provide evidence of whites(Spaniards or French) being referred to as creoles before the Louisiana purchase I will take EVERYTHING I've said here back? Because I can plenty of archived evidence clearly showing how the term "creole" in Louisiana was used to differentiate African born slaves from the creole born(African descendant) ones, just like all of the other colonies in the New World, ie haiti, martinique, suriname.

Very simple task.

no matter how much milk you put in coffee is still can't call it milk. mixed is not a race is a condition. you're not fooling anyone but yourself because you can't call yourself quite so you choose creole to avoid saying black. because you also know the creole could never be white.

Very simple task.
Louisiana Creole people refers to those who are descended from the colonial settlers in Louisiana, especially those of French and Spanish descent. The term was first used during colonial times by the early French settlers to refer to those who were born in the colony, as opposed to those born in the Old World.[2] After the Civil War, in response to the imposition of a binary racial classification imposed by the increasingly dominant Anglo-Saxon society (and the anxieties provoked thereby), some Creole scholars such as Charles Gayarre and Alcee Fortier began to assert that the word Creole referred exclusively to people of wholly European descent.[3] But, references to "Creoles of Color" and "Creole Slaves" can be found in colonial-era documents. The term is now commonly applied to individuals of mixed-race heritage. Both groups have common European heritage and share cultural ties, such as the traditional use of the French language and the continuing practice of Catholicism; in most cases, the people are related to each other. Those of mixed race also have African and sometimes Native American ancestry.[4]

^From the mouth of wikipedia.(which you can link to see the references yourself on the numbers there). Now, you have to take EVERYTHING you have just said back haha, where's our little promise?

zydeco is not cajun, he's right. It's not "white" anglo-saxon, however it is creole, which means a blend of french, spanish, native and african beats. So it is linked to "whites" in someway. You seem prejudice as hell against anyone resembling European/white. Whites and blacks did contribute to this country. Blacks unfortunately had it the worst in the western hemisphere, but without the mix of cultures (and sometimes genetics) creoles would not exist.
