Increasing?? Are you for real? Read the statistics and you will learn that gun deaths are on the decline and have been for more than two decades. Or you can look at Chicago and DC where onerous and restrictive gun laws are in effect and count the gun murders in those cities. Do the math yourself, if you know how to count.

I wouldn't say this kind of behavior is atypical for the majority of us, but unfortunately the "gun enthusiasts" make it appear that we are all in support of their irrational behavior, when it couldn't be further from the truth. Most gun nuts claim that they fear that their gun rights will be completely taken away, and that isn't true either.

I DON'T care what kind of rationale these nuts come up with, but there is absolutely no reason why they should need magazines that hold numerous rounds. Their argument is for safety reasons, but the average person doesn't need more than a few rounds to take down an assailant.

Oh I forgot. Another thing Americans do when they get criticized is start this whole "Stars and Stripes" nationalist speech.
Save it for your football games man. I live in Canada. My healthcare is free and my post secondary education is cheap. My cities are well maintained and my cities have a low crime rate. America's advantage over Canada is that it has more guns and more money. So, for the more violent, money hungry Canadians, they envy all that the U.S. has to offer. But, for the average Canadian person here who just wants to live in a peaceful society where they send their children to decent schools and treat their children at good hospitals when they get sick, America doesn't impress us.
I agree that America could conquer half the world through violence, killing, oppression, basically all the things that the U.S. is historically good at when it comes to dealing with other nations. Canada isn't that good at these things. As far as rejuvenating the economy, there are a whole lot of countries at the bottom right now that the U.S. has had it's influence in (e.g. Haiti) so I can't agree with you there.
my stars and stripes nationalist speech was not "spin" or "hyperbole", but is true as i see it. i lived in germany for ten years and enjoyed it very much. so i dont believe i have a closed, insular viewpoint.
as far as your national healthcare is concerned, im glad that it serves you well. but it is a well known fact that rich canadians and other foreign nationals come to the u.s. for certain surgical procedures. theres no denying that fact, even though lately there are plenty of people saying its fabricated or exaggerated.
people scoff and are derisive of americans and their american pride. you just stated a lot of positives about your life in Canada and are obviously proud of being from there. thats fine with me, however dont condemn someone else because they feel the same way about where they are from.
we are accused of being a warmongering nation, but what you conveniently leave out is that the u.s. has typically entered conflicts as a result of necessity. not through some mad vision of world domination, because like you stated, the u.s.a. could conquer the world if it so desired. if russia threatened canadian sovereignty, the u.s. would be there to back you up. interesting to see how critical of us youd be then.

Try that on somebody else fool. You cut a small part of the post to fit your lying intent. The whole post told the real story but you’re not interested in the truth. You tell lies and use words out of context. You obviously are jealous of the brotha. He seems real smart and you’re not. Your posts on this thread and more prove that. Don’t be so jealous, just get more education

Yes, RICH Canadians and foreigners go over to the U.S. You know why ? Because rich people always believe that because they are rich, they are entitled to more than the everyday citizen. It is like this in every country. Rich people don't want to wait their turn and they want to jump the line. They go to America because the U.S. is a nation whose healthcare caters to those with money and will allow them to jump the line.

I don't hate Americans. I just see that a major flaw in American society is how violent it is. It doesn't need to be that way because America has access to so much. Also, the U.S. did not need to go into Afghanistan. It did not need to go into Iraq. The one place that the U.S. should have gone to fight the "War on Terror" was the country where these terrorists were from, Saudi Arabia. It did not.

As far as Russia attacking, if Russia attacked the U.S., Canada would send soldiers to help the U.S. too. That being said, no one I know in Canada is worried about Russia and I honestly don't think Russians care about us. I think Russia is quite content leaving us alone.

i dont think the majority of gun owners are "gun nuts" as you put it. i dont think background checks or waiting periods are unreasonable. but a main concern is that american rights are chipped away at little by little, by libs and lunatic fringe leftists. they dont start with trying to take away a whole law or ammendment, they are too smart for that so they patiently work it away gradually till theres nothing left.
i dont think you would truly want to see an america that is disarmed by the gov't. if or when that happens, we will all be wards of the state. so for most of us in favor of our right to bear arms, its so much bigger than simply gun ownership.

i agree about russia. i was just trying to create an analogy to prove a point. as far as rich canadians coming over here because they have money, dont have to wait their turn, and are able to.jump in line. there is no line to wait in for healthcare in the u.s. thats the difference between national healthcare and private sector care. our healthcare system although flawed is going to get much worse over the next few years. its already starting. anyway, those rich canadians are doing nothing wrong by spending their money as they see fit. they come here because the medical science here is superior.
and i dont hate canadians or canada. enjoy it each time ive visited

Keeping your pea shooters means nothing if the US Military was ever turned against you. So the defense that you need them to defend yourself against the government is stupid and something you learned to parrot as a right-winger. Nothing you own as civilians would protect you for a single minute against the military so stop lying to yourself and others.

your being very simple in a broad spectrum subject. its not just about protecting ourselves physically from the gov't. of course the gov't with all their high tech gadgetry could not be opposed in that fashion. you need to see the bigger picture and realize its the people protecting their rights and freedoms through laws and legislation, itself that keeps the gov't in check. the minute we roll over on every issue is when we give big brother the right to supervise our every waking moment. stop being blind.

NYC Gun Crime Spikes After Stop-and-Frisk Ruling

"Gun violence in New York City has increased nearly 13 percent in the month since a federal judge ruled that the city police department’s stop-and-frisk program was unconstitutional.

During the 28 days ending Sept. 8, there were 140 shootings in the Big Apple compared to 124 during the same period last year, reports The New York Post.

The number of gunshot victims was up by more than 9 percent during that period, with 164 people hit by bullets this year compared with 150 shot last year.

"Shootings are going through the roof now because perps are not afraid to carry a gun," a source told the Post.

Judge Shira Scheindlin ruled on Aug. 12 in her 195-page decision that the NYPD's stop-and-frisk policy violated the rights of minorities.

One NYPD source told the Post that cops are no longer being "proactive" with stop-and-frisk because "they’re scared of being sued. They feel as if the city is not going to indemnify them in lawsuits."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly are big supporters of stop and frisk. "No doubt about it, violent crime will go up," Kelly said on CBS' "Meet the Press" following Scheindlin’s decision.

However, Democrat Bill de Blasio, the favorite to succeed Bloomberg in November's election is strongly opposed to the policy, saying it is unconstitutional, The New York Post reports. Republican rival Joe Lhota supports the policy, saying it saves lives, according to The Wall Street Journal."

How do we reduce gun crime?

With liberal federal judges in place with their rulings, good question.

Here's a suggestion, allow the Police to do their jobs without some liberal judge tying their hands behind their backs because of the threat of being sued by some civil rights lawyer.

So you try again
I hope you understand the difference between regulating behavior on public property vs private property. It's a very big difference that some people seem not to get, not saying you don't. Any kind of restriction on cars is only done so insofar as the car is used on publicly managed facilities, e.g. highways and not private roads (e.g. Talladega Superspeedway).

Shira Scheindlin stops vital police searches

How much blood will federal Judge Shira Scheindlin have on her hands when she finishes dismantlin most effective anti-gun-violence program in urban America?

Judge Scheindlin favors civil rights over the law.

Here's a suggestion as to how to decrease gun violence, stop dismantling vital anti-gun violence programs.
