Yes, these ladies are great, especially Lauryn Hill. Lauryn is DEFINITELY legendary, but we were talking about Eve and that is why I mentioned her.<quoted text>
Ok, you must be a teenager..
Here are some *actual* legendary "female" M.C.s
I still believe that Eve is legendary though because of her rap skills..........I'm sorry..........but Eve can RAP HER AZZ OFF !!!!
Artists are legendary for different reasons, for me, it is Eve's skills that puts her in that category. Queen Latifah kicked a lot of doors open for female rap artists, but I don't think that she is one of the most skilled rappers.
I have never been impressed with MC Lyte, but she was one of the pioneers, the only song that she released that I liked was "Lyte as a rock".
Lil' Kim is bad on the mic too. I always thought that Foxy Brown had skills but she is not one of the best.
In my opinion, one of the first female rappers who could hold her own with male artists was "Sparky D"..........
She made a response to The Real Roxanne back in the day (1980's) and she blew me away with her style and the way she put her lyrics together.
Although many people don't like Nikki Minaj because of all of the clownish behavior (different colored hair, strange antics etc) I still think she can rap her azz off..........
Both Nikki Minaj, Lil' Kim and Eve write their own rhymes..........they don't use ghost writers..........
And that gets my respect. Have you ever tried to write a rhyme (a tight one, not a Mother Goose nursery rhyme !!!)......
It's not easy.
I know they all do something that I could never do and I appreciate the talent and skills that it takes to be able to express your self with just a few words.
It is truly a gift. It reminds me of Hebrew poetry. If you read the Psalms in the bible, there are similarities in the way thoughts and emotions are expressed and conveyed.
I will tell you who I believe the "worst" female M.C. of all time:
Roxanne Shontee..........What the hell was she doing ???
