First the people need to be fed. That won't happen with corrupt leadership. It also can't happen with constant strife and civil unrest, caused by corrupt leadership. In America we get taught how evil communism is, however, communism is a good first step on the path from 3rd world to 1st world.
We get told how evil Castro is, but you ask any of the poor, rural blacks, and they will genuinely call him a hero. Their lives are infinitely better now. They just need to take the final step onto democratic capitalism, which I believe they will succeed at.
I would be in favor of China being a big brother, puppet master, if you will, in the short term to some African nations, even though that isn't really in the interest of myself, being American.
