THREE innocent citizens peaceably going about their business were shot at, had their property wrecked, and were almost killed because of reckless and poorly trained police officers coming unglued while on duty.

The LAPD does kill people. That department is rotten.
I don't defend Dorner's shooting of innocents to prove this point, but nonetheless the point does need proving.
It is high time something is done about the out-of-control LAPD. Many of us have been saying this for years.
No, the LAPD doesn't kill people. Individual people kill people. But unfortunately, people like Dorner can't draw the distinction that every Police Officer is bad. As with anything else, you have good and bad. You hold individuals responsible not the whole. The LAPD is a large organization and yet, all it takes is even one to tarnish them all.

After the events in the Rodney King case, a new person was brought in as Police Chief. Chief Bratton cleaned house.

"LAPD chief Bratton leaves a police force transformed

Bratton, who ends his tenure at the LAPD this week, is credited for reinventing a police force once known for brutality and corruption, and bringing down crime to historic lows."
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2009/1031/p02s10...

"In stunning reversal, LAPD goes from reviled to respected

The police department once known for beating Rodney King has resuscitated its public image by reaching out to the minority communities it once antagonized.

Los Angeles has long been notorious for having one of the lowest police-to-citizens ratios among major American cities. But with Mr. Bratton's encouragement, the city has expanded its police ranks to historic highs. He has also helped lower crime in every category by using an array of technology to gather data and analyze it, helping him deploy his force more intelligently.

Yet Najee Ali, an activist in the black community who has often been at odds with the police, attributes the reinvention of the LAPD's image to Bratton's efforts to meet with community leaders regularly – particularly when there has been a controversy or a police shooting in a minority neighborhood. He says the LAPD has expanded its cultural sensitivity training and recruited a wider variety of races. A majority of recruits are now Latino.

"All the previous leaders of the LAPD were extremely unresponsive to the complaints of residents," says Mr. Ali. "Bratton has made the entire department more visible and transparent by virtually opening up its soul to a community that it was often at odds with."

The poll numbers reflect giant gains in the eyes of both blacks and Hispanics, Ali adds. The percentage of both demographic groups who approve of the LAPD rose by double digits since the 2005 survey. That stands in contrast to the 1990s, when the police beating of Rodney King erupted into the most costly riots in US history, and so-called Rampart scandal exposed chronic misuse and planting of evidence to obtain convictions. Just after 1991, only 40 percent of Angelenos polled said they approved of police performance."

What's interesting is if you look at the date when the approval numbers when up. That's approx the same time frame when Dorner was w/the LAPD.

The least they could do is get a new truck, since the other one is full of bullet holes. I imagine the settlement should be pretty costly for the city. The officers involved obviously need more training since they could have killed somebody. It is doubtful they will get fired. That seems to be reserved for whistleblowers at LAPD.

*In fact, Dorner was fired in 2008 and Chief Bratton was brought on in 2002 and left in 2009.

""Los Angeles' police force is better trained, more diverse, better disciplined and better led than the one that betrayed the city's trust in 1992," The Los Angeles Times declared. "Its work is appreciated by residents across racial lines. Its record, though not perfect, is far less inflammatory and far more constructive."

It's a view shared among neighborhood leaders and police watchdog groups."

It just unreal to me that a person who loves in Anerica just blindly close there eyes to the reality of injustice. You here all these that blacks are primates look all these post imagine this is just a handful of people who are so racist even when you try to live the American dream someone is always there to remind you if the hate when a black person post any thing that feel injustice the first thing you get is you are filthy you are this and that just name calling not one person even try just ask a question about dealing with racism in the world if you feel this way. Think about this the feeling and words about minorities are usually from White American.Your comfort was built on free labor and American Irish if you new your history you suffer a great deal right along side until offer you so much land and then that is a lot of American riches come from.

This is for those that try to justify racism, discrimination and abuse of power within any work infrastructure:

Watch your ass!

You need to realize that every decision that you make/have made affects not only those persons you have decided against, but also those connected to you, someway/somehow.

This whole situation was brought about due to the in house corruption of friends and family that are noted racist and harassers on the police-force.

However, this happens on every work-force that is mainly white oriented. These racist are content and diligent on maintaining the status quo. They are relentless and will not stop until a situation of this type ensues. Then at the magic drop of a dime after being instilled with fear they will try to negotiate their terms, but their sinister actions have already been done.

No negotiations!
It is not feasible to ever trust the enemy.

Finally, white people are getting a taste of what it's been like for blacks to deal with the LAPD. "Reckless and violent" doesn't even begin to describe them. What bm who is faced with this kind of craziness from those who are supposed to serve and protect is NOT going to hate the police? Now they have killed TWO innocent citizens and wounded a third. And god knows what else they've been up to and how many other people's lives and rights they've been trampling on in this manhunt. They are terrorizing entire communities in their incompetence and violent brutality ...can anybody doubt that the LAPD is nothing more than a street gang with badges? The governor of california should call in the national guard to deal with them. They are the REAL criminals here...

I know there's a lotta black folks on here who feel that dorner should obey the law and that he should adopt a more "constructive" and "positive" means of making his concerns known without causing too much trouble.

I think we had a lot of people who felt the same way about dr king and rosa parks. can you imagine all the black folks who said about rosa parks that she should not have broken the law by denying the wm her seat and that she was only making things worse for black people? My dad used to tell me that back when dr king was leading all those non-violent marches and getting arrested, that there were a lotta blacks who were saying "i don't support his actions" and calling him a criminal.

Same with Malcolm x. All you gotta do is go to youtube and you see plenty interviews with so-called intellectuals who were scared sh8tless by malcolm x's revolutionary ideas.

So, i guess a lotta blacks today are no different from the "scared blacks" of the 40's and 50's. It's surprising to me how little we've changed as a people...you would think that by now, more blacks would have understood the importance of revolutionary initiative as opposed to hiding behind the safety of our complacency. if that's how people feel, it's ok...but they should at least have the courtesy not to criticize a brother who is brave enough to initiate real change.

So far the LAPD has blown away two innocent people and shot a third in their hunt for dorner. Why is this? Why the reckless slaughter of innocent civilians? The question is simple...they're not interested in catching dorner and bringing him to justice...they're interested only in killing him. So, i think it's important to understand why that might be...an organization that is supposed to protect and serve is instead targeting innocent people and destroying private property as if we were back in the lawless wild west. Could it be that they're trying to shut dorner up? and what is it that they're afraid he might say? Remember, the LAPD is the same organization who made a common practice of beating bm to death then denying it, until the rodney king video exposed them. then they couldn't deny it anymore. They denied the racist culture of the LAPD until mark fuhrman's testimony, then they couldn't deny it anymore. Now they're being exposed again...they would rather kill dorner and claim self defense than to let the rest of the world hear what else he has to say. dorner might end up getting caught, but mark my words, he's not gonna get caught alive....if he gets caught, and seeing the tragic incompetence of the LAPD, that's a big "if", he knows well that they're gonna murder him before they let him testify...so in a way he's a man on a suicide mission. That's the kind of dedication and the kind of passion more bm need to have...the kind of love for the bc that will make us willing to kill and die to free our community from police violence and oppression rather than live like second-class citizens. this man is a hero and he deserves the full support and appreciation of the black community.

If we had 10 more men like dorner, we would be in a totally different place as a community. the police would not fk with us, they would not profile us and they would make damn sure that they treated the black community with the utmost respect. the problem is that we have allowed people to disrespect us, kill us, profile us and treat us with contempt and all we do is offer some weak a88 protest march and a funeral sermon with a preacher tellin us to forgive and ole black people tellin us not to be stupid and fight back...so the sh8t continues. And black people get murdered in the street like trayvon martin and a whole buncha other bm who get killed by the police without making the news and it's not just bm either, it's bw and black children. it's like cops treat or lives like they aint worth sh8t. look at how easy they blew away that woman and her daughter in the manhunt for dorner...but it barely made the news and they even stoppped talking about it already...but that's two people whose lives were taken by the cops for no reason.

But i don't think that today the black community is still fulla people with that ole slave mentality anymore...i think we have brothers now that are doers and thinkers instead of ineffectual, mealy mouthed apologists for white racism and aggression. i think we've come a long way...dorner is only the tip of the iceberg. I think that once brothers feel more emboldened and more empowered to take a stand, the LAPD's and all the other corrupt, racist law enforcement organizations across the country's days are numbered.
