Especially on the internet, fools are now responding with the new phrase, 'You must be white', if they disagree with you.

Text in ebonix and they instantly discredit you, calling you a "dumb n!@@er". Talk properly, speak with intelligence, they assume you're not black and afford you 1% more respect than usual.

It's been my experience that the blacks frequently get on other blacks for speaking proper English. Not the whites. Probably because most blacks are uneducated and illiterate and easily get embarrassed by the blacks that can enunciate and speak clearly.

Naw, some blacks love to use "code" words!

So far, no one has been able to tell me what the term "Up in here" means,or "see what I'm sayin" means.

Apparently it's a Negro sub-culture thing!

Tru dat yo!
But seriously, if you speak clearly and use proper English you are on your way to being hated in the black community!

That's nothing new!

Fifty years ago, it was the same thing.

Chalk it up to jealously of progress.

They're still at the bottom, and you has risen above them!

The "Crab Mentality" exists within the Black community!

Rather than see you rise, and get out of the basket of poverty, and ignorance, they attempt to pull you back into the basket!

No school turned them away.

It goes back to the parent(s).

Story of my fricken life. All through school and even sometimes in college. It's like many of my black classmates wanted me to lower my standards and abilities to be accepted by them. I wasn't about to do that. So they always had something to say about me. "Stuck up," "white girl," etc. I was once teased for reading a novel in home room. I was angry at them back then but today I feel sorry for them. Why do they hate themselves so much that they think it's against their own design to be intelligent? It's tragic.

Have you ever listened to any black talk shows on radio?

The people that generally listen, are the whiners, whining about so-called racism.

I have friends that work for EEOC, and they all tell me that about 80% of their cases are bogus!

Like the employee that always arrives late.

The employee that argues with his manager.

The employee that pilfer goods.

The employee that is always going to the rest room about 12 times a day, every day.

When they get fired, the first thing comes to their minds is, "racism".

The "Silver Rights Leaders" always want to come to their aid, and comfort them by claiming "racism".

Young Blacks reject education, and like I've said so many times before, education is the only thing that will elevate the black race out of poverty.

Have you ever listened to some of these young people trying to read aloud?

It's pitiful.

My grandmother was an ex-slave.

She could read and write, and had the most beautiful handwriting.

Se died in 1949 at 99 years old.

As a matter of fact, most black adults in my area in South Ga, could read and write.

This was because most owned their own farms, so they had to learn to read and write,

or get gypped!

When I got on the net in the early 90s, I found that more Blacks in South Ga could read and write, than the Blacks in North Ga, I was surprised.

Just my POV.

Yes, it is a sad problem that afflicts too many youth. I'm not sure how it started but there is a wide swath of anti-intellectualism that plagues some sections of the black community and it's deadly. It starts with those who truly do not care and sweeps up those youth who do but fear ostracism if they do not play along. In my estimation, it easily accounts for 75% of the problems faced by the black community today.

Good post about the EEOC thing. I have worked in that area and have had to try such cases at the state level. They piss me off because we have to waste time sorting out the BS from the truly meritorious cases. Make no mistake, there are meritorious cases and those people get made whole. Nothing gave me greater pleasure than going after some employee trying to game the system on the basis of race, gender, disability or any of the other protected class categories.

This is a joke and a lie about the EEOC.

Most EEOC cases are resolved before they get to the EEOC. There are several stages that must be completed and if resolution is not agreed upon, going to the EEOC is the final stage. If the EEOC do not resolve the complaint, a right to proceed to court is authorized.

There are several elements that are protected under EEOC: Age, gender, race, religion and disability.

You post is full of so many holes and stereotypes it's obvious to me that you don't know jack about EEOC.

you are so full of schitt, it's oozing all over this post.

You have more schitt in this post that topix needs a sewage recycling plant to process this much schitt.

All you are doing is socially inhibiting AA's and if you don't know what that is, it's because you are "uneducated".....heh ehehe

I don''t think you two are in disagreement here. I think UTB was talking about the types of claims that get filed. He's absolutely right that a majority of the claims are not meritorious, whether the complainant is actively trying to be bogus or they truly believe they have been discriminated against but their allegations are factually wrong. I have seen every type of claim filed by blacks, white, Hispanics, Asians based on every one of the protected class categories (and before anyone gets their panties in a twist, white people do file racial discrimination claims that are both meritorious and bogus and these cases get the same treatment that I am describing).

Most often, there is a filing at the state division of human rights (or whatever it is named in a particular state) and they dual file with the EEOC. EEOC often takes a step back and lets the state investigative body do its thing. If the state body finds no probably cause to believe an act of discrimination has taken place, the EEOC will then send the complainant what's called a 'Right to Sue" letter. The complainant then has the option of filing of pursuing his/her complaint in State or Federal court (though at this point, they most often go Federal). If probable cause is found, an administrative hearing is eventually scheduled and the respondent will do whatever it does to defend itself whether that be negotiating a settlement or taking its chances at the hearing.

Blacks who use standard English and wish to speak eloquently often are put down by their own people. It is sad. Frankly, from the reports I have read and things I have heard from some of my own elderly family, is that during segregation there was a place for intellectual blacks within the black community. There still is in many places....but in general, today, intellectual blacks are seen as "nerds" or "acting white"...which is a damn shame..

What idiots or doing is socially inhibiting AA's.

Linguistics varies. There's nothing written in stone in linquistics. In science, something must be consistent under all conditions to be true. Not so in linquistics. Nothing is true under all conditions in linguistics. Thus, linquistic varies and fluctuate depending on conditions.

THERE IS NOBODY ON EARTH THAT CAN DEFINE EVERY LINQUISTICAL VARIABLE.
