lol...hahahaha...What are you bred to be ignorant and stupid or just plain stupid. "inbred for centuries to be slaves". Oh, that's why Obama is president...lol. What a stupid comment!

Wow. I'm from NYC, and I've been to other parts of the country, but I hardly ever seen any racist people. There's always so much diversity for it.

The reason being as such is: by force they kidnapped us from our original homeland the contient of Africa with many countries our blood line is from.
They took us away from our original people; and brought us to a strange foriegn land. They took away our original native tongues, cultures, broke up our families and scattered us from one cornor of thee earth to another; HOWEVER....with all of that doing done we still hang on to the name of the people we originally come from; and that you will not take from us.

Ignorance has gone beyond bliss. Self elevating of one's self is fickled and no better. Black people experiences has not been thee EXACT same world over. Embrace your blessing for a milder journey. Inhumane acts of slavery rewards are definitely not blessings to come.

<quoted text>Let me make myself clear because you have rather foolishly percieved my comment the wrong way.
I was talking about carribean people, if you look at the starting post, the comment was that he preferred being black british as opposed to afro-british,afro- carribeans does not apply to all black because not all blacks are african and carribean and so many prefer the term black british.
And as I stated many black born to carribean parents do not have any links or associations with africa so to class theirselves as afro-british would feel wrong.
As we all know-all are intital to their opinion however, DNA is mans blue print with thee ability of trace back to 5,000 years and beyond. However the PRESENT landmark-(sorta speak) may be DNA always manifest proof then anything else.

ANSWER
.
In the South where the major fraction of the Black population lived up and until farm mechanization, Blacks were often in the numerical majority. For Whites to retain their racial economic and political privilege it was most (emphasis) necessary to institute an unforgiving racial code or apartheid. This was called Jim Crow. This practice became institutionalized in U.S. politics and economics. U.S. Blacks only began digging their way out in the 60's. That was only two generations ago. As things for Blacks improve, a simultaneous, almost violent rearguard movement is afoot. The effect has been to both criminalize and marginalize African Americans.
.
Two interesting books:
1. Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How it Changed America [Paperback]
(While this book is principally about a flood, it has the advantage of depicting a disaster and reveals the actual relations between Blacks and whites in the South. Unlike Gone with the Wind, as that book papers over the problem.
2.The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander and Cornel West (Jan 16, 2012)
(This book gives an idea of how white politicians have engineered a return to Jim Crow policies in the U.S.)

I prefer to be called black american because I have no association with africa and I wasn't born there. I don't know where the term african-american came from, I don't understand that term.

No such thing as being black and British. British people are Caucasian. You are merely an African living in Britain.

Trust you?..I don’t think so somehow.

That is exactly why migrants are infiltrating your space kid...you have lost focus.

To a migrant the US will remain the land of opportunity..you sound like you are afraid to get your hands dirty.

That is why I will NEVER give up my right to legally reside in the US..I will hold on for dear life no matter what.

I hope individuals like you in the meantime remain complacent.
