The victim in the following story is not a white woman, but she was a human being, just the same.
Professor, 69,'riddled ex-wife 40 years his junior with bullets and dismembered her body' just a week after divorce
Lawrence Jones spent 25 years teaching at Naval Postgraduate School
Norife 'Janie' Herrera Jones, 29, was a successful businesswoman in the Philippines with a master's degree
Couple married in 2006 and separated last year apparently over the husband's violent outbursts
Divorce was finalized in February of 2012, ending a five-year marriage
Janie Jones moved to San Jose, but for some reason returned just days before her death
PUBLISHED: 10:40 EST, 20 September 2012 | UPDATED: 12:36 EST, 20 September 2012
Excerpt: "Police believe a Naval Postgraduate School professor shot her ex-wife multiple times at his home before dismembering her body and dumping some of the remains in a remote area of Aromas, California.
Norife 'Janie' Herrera Jones, 29, was discovered murdered September 7 on Cannon Road in the suburban town. Lawrence Jones, 69, was arrested a week later in connection to his ex-wife's slaying, police said.
In a statement released on Wednesday, investigators said Herrera Jones died from multiple gunshot wounds before her lifeless body was mutilated.
The 69-year-old was taken into custody following a search of his Spray Avenue home in Monterey, during which police said they had found enough evidence to charge him with his ex-wife’s murder.
Jones did not enter a plea at his court appearance on Wednesday. He was initially scheduled to appear before a judge the day before, but an undisclosed medical problem resulted in a delay.
On Wednesday, Jones was seen in court sporting a bandage on his right wrist, which suggests that he may have tried to take his own life, considering his history of suicide attempts.
Lawrence Jones, known to friends as Larry, has been a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School for 25 years, most recently serving as financial management chair, The Monterey county Herald reported.
He worked as a visiting consultant for the Asian Development Bank, as a visiting scholar at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and the University of Siena in Italy. He taught at NPS and has lived in Monterey since the late 1980s.
Janie Herrera Jones was described by those who knew her a sweet and trusting young woman.
According to her online resume, the 29-year-old was a highly educated and accomplished businesswoman in her native Philippines, with a strong interest in international affairs and a master’s degree in business management.
However, when Herrera Jones arrived in the U.S., she was forced to seek more humble positions, including a job at a Macy’s department store and a stint at Lens Crafters.
She also volunteered her time working for charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society and Special Kids Crusade in Monterey, where she organized more than 1,200 books for the library.
It is believed that Herrera Jones married the distinguished professor 40 years her senior in February of 2006.
Friends and former neighbors said the marriage appeared happy at first and that Janie Jones told them she loved her husband the first couple of years. But then the relationship apparently started turning sour between the two, and last year, the young woman left.
Janie Jones told friends that her husband, a Stanford University graduate, became upset after his alma mater’s football team lost a game, and things escalated from there.
The outburst was the last straw for Janie Jones, said friends.
Co-workers gave her clothes and helped her move to San Jose, where she got an apartment, found work and started her new single life.
Her volatile ex-husband, however, was apparently not ready to move on."

Producer Of TV Show "Survivor" Accused Of Killing Wife Talks To 48 HOURS
September 20, 2012 11:59 PM
LOS ANGELES ( CBSLA.com )— Bruce Beresford-Redman, the reality show producer accused of killing his wife Monica at a Cancun resort, has opened up to ’48 HOURS.’
He’s spent more than seven months behind bars in a Mexican prison.
’48 HOURS’ was there when he reached out to his two children — Alec and Camilla — via videotape message.“Hi guys. I miss you very much. I love you. Hopefully I’m coming home soon.”
Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Rachel Kim previews the Beresford-Redman interview airing this Saturday on CBS at 10 p.m.
In the taped piece, Beresford-Redman is often affectionate with his children. The fact he misses them, very evident.“Alec, I’m not going to get my haircut until I come home, so we can go get out haircut together. Alright, pumpkin. Take care. Be good to your brother. Alec, give your sister lots of kisses for me.”
In the interview obtained by ’48 Hours’, Beresford-Redman is confident he will not be found guilty of his wife’s murder.
His parents have custody of the two children. Says his mother Juanita Beresford-Redman,“They’re doing beautifully. But they never forget about their dad and their mom, but mostly about Bruce. They want him home so badly.”
Prosecutors in Mexico believe that Bruce killed his wife following a fight on the early morning of April 5t, 2010. They believe he concealed her body in a Cancun hotel room until he could dispose of it that evening.
Months into the murder trial, Bruce believes he is getting help from the government’s own witnesses. The coroner, for example, said Monica was murdered at about 11:40 on Monday evening.
Says Beresford-Redman,“His testimony, to me, obliterates their entire story. 11:40 p.m. is, is pretty definite and it’s 18 hours off when they say it happened.”
If Monica was killed at night then Bruce argues that the screams heard coming from his room that morning were exactly what he has always claimed they were … sounds of his rough-housing with his children.
A criminologist reportedly testified that he could find no link between Bruce and the murder.
In court today, the defense questioned the reliability of a blood sample found in the hotel room.
Monica’s family remains steadfast in their belief that Bruce was responsible for her death. Carla Burgos, Monicas’s sister, says “I believe in justice and I believe he’s gonna pay for what he’s done. Everybody that knows the case knows the truth inside their hearts.”

White Man Claims Self Defense In Deaths of Wife, Stepson
Former boxer squares off with prosecutor at Stand Your Ground hearing
Thursday, Sep 20, 2012 | Updated 7:12 AM EDT
A former professional boxer accused of killing his wife and stepson in their Hollywood home went toe-to-toe with a prosecutor when he took the stand during an emotional hearing Wednesday.
William Medei is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the March 2009 stabbing deaths of wife Renee Bader and her 13-year-old son, Joshua.
Medei, 56, claims he killed them in self defense, saying they attacked him with a knife as he slept inside the family's trailer. He took the stand Wednesday during a hearing to get the charges dismissed under Florida's Stand Your Ground law.
18-Year-Old Wanted for Little Haiti Shooting
"They weren't stabs, they were slashes, I was just striking out," Medei said. "When I got the knife, I just lost my mind, whoever it was, I just killed 'em, I just started chopping.
"It was panic, fear and pain and rage."
Prosecutor Tom Coleman showed Medei gruesome photos of the 81 stab wounds he inflicted on his victims, saying the killings were rage, not self-defense.
"Mr. Medei, you're aware that the injury to Renee's chest that we're looking at here, that that injury went through her chest, out the back of her chest, through the mattress and embedded itself into the bed," Coleman said.
1 Killed, 2 Injured in Miami-Dade Shooting
"It did not, it did not, because it did not and you're a liar!" Medei shouted back.
Medei's mother and brother were in court for Wednesday's hearing, and said they're bewildered and heartbroken.
"It's almost unbearable," brother Ken Medei said. "I'm just in disbelief about the entire thing."
Medei testified that the multiple stab wounds showed he was acting in self-defense.
"If I tried to kill them, it would've been two swift moves and it would've been over," he said.
"So the slashes to the face, was she trying to bite you? Was there something that you're protecting yourself from her face? Mr. Medei?" Coleman asked.
"I hear you," Medei said.
"Do you have an answer?" Coleman said.
"No," Medei replied.
Medei is being held without bond.

OMG - This is what being a devoted mother of three gets you? That sux! Poor Nancy, if there was any justice the court would allow her to take a revolver and just shoot her ex right in the eyes, point blank.
She most likely wears an eye patch now, and having gotten closer to heaven will now begin to exercise her options and consider the swirl thang.

The Altoona Mirror
BEDFORD -- A traveling preacher's Bedford County child rape trial opened to graphic testimony Wednesday morning from his alleged 11-year-old victim, now 15.
The Rev. Walter Bradshaw, 63, of Lexington, N.C., listened with an earpiece as the alleged victim recounted a 2009 sexual encounter in the Janey Lynn Motel in Bedford Township.
Bedford County Judge Thomas Ling sent the jury away repeatedly to referee attorneys' disputes throughout the more than two hours of testimony.
Ling at one point threatened defense attorney Thomas Crawford with a fine for repeatedly asking unacceptable questions.
The alleged victim will retake the stand after the lunch break.

White man jailed indefinitely for drugging and raping three children
Darren Mackrell lured two boys and a girl to his flat and forced them to engage in sexual activity with him and each other
The Guardian, Friday 21 September 2012 10.18 EDT
A man who drugged three young children before raping them and forcing them to engage in sexual activity with each other has been jailed indefinitely.
Darren Mackrell, 45, subjected two boys aged eight and 10 and a nine-year-old girl to a six-hour ordeal at his flat in Southampton after befriending one of the children at a park.
The judge, Gary Burrell QC, sentenced Mackrell to an indeterminate sentence for public protection and said he had "plumbed the depths of human depravity".
A pre-sentence report said Mackrell's danger to children "could not be overstated". The judge told Mackrell it would be 10 years before he could be considered for parole and he might never be released if he was still considered a danger.
Winchester crown court heard that all three children had been left traumatised by what Mackrell did to them. The girl had not been able to tell anyone what happened, and one of the boys had self-harmed and written suicide notes.
As Mackrell was led away, one of the victims' mothers shouted from the public gallery: "I will find you, you fucking piece of shit."
The court was told that after luring the children to his flat, Mackrell, a drug addict, forced them to strip, smoke cannabis and take amphetamine, temazepam and Viagra. He raped all three and forced them to engage in sexual activity with him and each other.
He played hardcore pornographic films and threatened to hurt the children when they tried to leave, showing one boy a large hunting knife.
A mother tracked her son down to Mackrell's flat and when she did not get a reply she called the police. An officer saw the pornographic video playing through the letterbox and tried to break in. Eventually one of the boys opened the door.
Mackrell admitted a total of 18 charges of raping the three children, sexually assaulting them, causing them to engage in sexual activity, forcing them to watch a sexual act and administering drugs.
The judge said he understood the mother's outburst in court. He told Mackrell: "It's a parent's worst nightmare to lose a child. As a parent, when a child goes missing you fear the worst, you fear something bad has happened to them. Something bad did happen to these three young children on that day: your behaviour towards them. You drugged them and you stupefied them with cannabis, amphetamine, temazepam and Viagra and raped them for your own sexual gratification.
"They were very, very young – eight, nine and 10 – and they were vulnerable, and you took advantage of their innocence because they were so drugged you were able, in effect, to do whatever you wanted. There is no room for mercy in a case as horrifying as this."

White 50-year-old convicted in sex abuse of 9-year-old
Published On: Sep 21 2012 09:12:16 AM EDT
Updated On: Sep 21 2012 09:14:22 AM EDT
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-Anthony Carter was found guilty Thursday evening on charges he molested and sexually abused a girl for over two years, beginning when the victim was 9.
The 50-year-old was convicted of sexual battery, attempted capital sexual battery, lewd or lascivious exhibition, lewd or lascivious molestation, and sale, distribution or showing of obscene materials to minors.
Prosecutors say that Carter attempted to use sex toys and committed sex acts on the girl from January 2009 to May 2011. Carter also showed the victim pornography, including pictures of adults having sex with children.
The abuse was discovered after the child was examined by her pediatrician, and the doctor noticed swelling in the genital area.
"Our young victim was very brave to face her abuser in court and share what he did to her," said Assistant State Attorney Theresa Simak. "This little girl's testimony helped send this Defendant to prison for the rest of his life."
Immediately after his conviction, he received mandatory life on the sexual battery charge, life in prison for molestation, 30 years for attempted capital sexual battery, 15 years for exhibition, and five years on the obscene materials charge.

White man indicted on 340 counts in Ontario County sex abuse case
Posted: Friday, September 21, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 12:10 am, Fri Sep 21, 2012.
A Batavia man was indicted in Ontario County Wednesday and charged with 340 counts related to sexual assaults against children.
Michael S. Lewis, 41, who was living at 1 Prestige Crossing before he was arrested in July, is accused of repeated acts of sexual assault against two girls, ages 12 and 14.
Ontario Assistant District Attorney James Ritts said the assaults began in April of 2010 and continued until November 2011.
That’s when Lewis, who was living in East Bloomfield, moved to Batavia, Ritts said Thursday morning.
“He moved from his home in Bloomfield and apparently met a girl in Batavia,” Ritts said.“We’re not aware of any incidents involving him in Batavia. He does have a history of domestic violence and conviction in Monroe County.”
Ritts said he doesn’t believe Lewis had any other ties to Batavia other than the woman he was living with.
Ritts said the indictment was the largest he has even seen returned by an Ontario County grand jury.
The most serious charges are predatory sexual assault against a child, which carries a maximum 25-years-to-life sentence upon conviction.
Lewis was first arrested in July and again in August as the investigation against him continued.
Ritts said some of the sexual assaults were witnessed by two other children, leading to endangering the welfare of a child charges included in the indictment.
Lewis remains in Ontario County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Texas jury convicts man in '84 murder of friend
(AP) FORT WORTH, Texas - A man accused of repeatedly stabbing a friend in 1984 after she rejected his romantic advances, then leaving her body to be found by her mother beside a blood-soaked bed, was convicted of capital murder late Friday by a Texas jury and sentenced to life in prison.
Ryland Shane Absalon, 45, was accused of stabbing 18-year-old Ginger Hayden more than 50 times in her family's Fort Worth apartment. Prosecutors alleged that he confessed two years later during a drug-treatment program, yet he wasn't charged until about 25 years later after the case was re-opened and DNA evidence was tested.
Absalon lowered his head as the verdict was read, and his wife began crying. She ran out of the courtroom sobbing loudly as the judge read the sentence of life in prison, which was automatic because prosecutors didn't seek the death penalty.
Hayden's relatives cried quietly in the courtroom.
Investigators said Hayden was attacked in her bed with a kitchen knife. She was found on the floor when her mother went into her room, wondering why her daughter's alarm clock kept ringing on what would have been the teenager's second day of college. She had dreams of becoming a physical therapist.
"I'm relieved that they finally put him away," her mother, Sharon Hayden Harvey, said after the verdict. She said she has thought about the brutality of the crime every day, but "now that he's in prison, I can let it go."
Defense attorney Gary Udashen declined comment after the verdict.
During closing arguments earlier Friday, Udashen said Absalon falsely confessed because he was pressured and abused at the drug-treatment center and believed everything he said would be kept confidential. He argued that some of Absalon's DNA was found in Hayden's apartment because the teens were former high school classmates and neighbors who would hang out.
Udashen reminded jurors that DNA found under Hayden's fingernails, as well as on a quilt and a sock, matched an unknown man. The attorney also noted that a rash of murders of attractive young women in the mid-1980s in Fort Worth prompted police to form a task force.
"It won't help Ginger or her mother for police to stop looking for her killer," Udashen told jurors, adding that it "does not appear to be the crime of a 17-year-old kid."
Absalon was arrested in 2010 at his home in Sierra Vista, Ariz., where he was working as a welder and living with his wife and young child. News of his arrest prompted some former participants in the drug-treatment program to tell police about his confession — more than two decades after they'd been told that everything said at the center must remain confidential.
One former participant testified that about two years after Hayden's murder, Absalon said in a group therapy session in the drug treatment program that he fatally stabbed a young woman when he was high on heroin.
Prosecutors said Absalon's 1986 confession in the treatment program supported the evidence and included details that only the killer would know: that he took a knife from the victim's kitchen, hid in the closet until she went to sleep and then stabbed her on the bed.
Absalon told another participant that he killed Hayden because he was angry that she only wanted to be friends after he told her that he wanted a romantic relationship, according to testimony. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that one witness testified during the trial that Absalon said nobody would find out because he covered it up too well, washing his hands and cleaning up in the bathroom. Prosecutors said he used socks as gloves.
Absalon's DNA was found in the bathroom on a towel and bloody sock, and a piece of wood from the knife that killed Hayden also was found on one of the socks, according to testimony.

Marion Millican murder: Fred McClenaghan jailed for at least 16 years
Fred McClenaghan claimed he accidentally shot her while attempting to kill himself
A man who shot dead his ex-lover with an antique shotgun will serve at least 16 years of his life sentence.
Fred McClenaghan, 49, was found guilty of murdering Marion Millican in the Portstewart launderette where she worked in March 2011.
The judge said an aggravating factor was that he planned the shooting using an untraceable illegal shotgun obtained at least two weeks before the murder.
She said there was evidence McClenaghan had attacked her in the past.
Judge Corinne Philpott said he had once broken one of her teeth, while an attempt to strangle Mrs Millican had been the "last straw" in their relationship.
Although the mother-of-four ended the relationship, and they were apart for about three months, McClenaghan "deliberately sought her out" on the day of the shooting, the judge said.
The 51-year-old suffered a shotgun wound to her chest and died at the scene.
McClenaghan, from Broad Street in Magherafelt, had claimed that he accidentally shot her while attempting to kill himself in front of her.
The Antrim Crown Court judge, sitting in Belfast, told McClenaghan the jury had rejected his claims both of diminished responsibility and that the shooting was an accident.
She said they had convicted him of "deliberate murder".
One of Mrs Millican's daughters said the family felt let down by the 16-year minimum sentence.
"As a family we feel the sentence was very lenient, especially for such a violent crime," said Suzanne Davis.
Accompanied by a tearful Pamela Henry, a friend and colleague of Mrs Millican's who was at work that day, Mrs Davis described McClenaghan as "a monster" and an "evil, evil man".
Speaking of the family's loss, she said:'It's indescribable - our lives have been shattered, we will never get over the loss of my mum.
"She was the glue that kept us together and now she is not here.
"It's the simple things in life that we miss about her as much as the milestones, every little insignificant thing and she's not here."

33 years later, convict admits to murdering young woman
Posted: Sep 21, 2012 3:48 PM NT
Last Updated: Sep 21, 2012 6:55 PM NT
The Parole Board of Canada says a Corner Brook man previously convicted of manslaughter in the death of Janet Louvelle in 1979, has now admitted to murdering the young woman.
Louvelle was 16-years old at the time.
Malclom Cuff, 52, was up for a parole review when he made the admission.
Janet Louvelle was 16-years old when she went missing in 1979.
The parole board said Cuff admitted he drove Louvelle to a spot on the highway just west of Corner Brook.
In its written decision, the board also said Cuff admitted that when she tried to run away, he chased her down, fell on her, and deliberately held her face in the snow until she suffocated.
"You originally maintained her death was accidental; however, file information indicates that you now acknowledge that her death was intentional," stated the Parole Board of Canada's decision sheet dated September 13, 2012.
"Sometimes accepting the responsibility and sometimes returning to your story that the death was accidental, today you unequivocally stated that you murdered the victim," the decision sheet continued.
Despite the admission, Cuff was denied parole. The board said while he is making progress with counselling, there's still too big a risk to release him into the community.
In 2000, Cuff admitted a role in the death of Louvelle, but said it was an accident. Cuff was later sentenced to 14 years for manslaughter in the death of Louvelle.
"Callous and brutal"
Cuff and a second man were convicted in 1984 of sexually assaulting and murdering another woman, Marilyn Ann Newman.
"The Board presented to you that these two murders could be described as brutal and cold-blooded. You did not disagree with this description," said the parole's decision sheet.
"You admitted to many more details of both offences than you have previously done, in particular, the manslaughter offence," the written decision added.
The board looked at several other factors, such as Cuff's behaviour and progress in therapy, but said Cuff still has, "more work to do in understanding yourself and the reasons for your crimes."
"They were callous and brutal murders of two young women so every precaution must be taken in your case and every avenue explored to properly assess your understanding of your behaviour and thus your potential future risk."
