Are italians really white?

Man, I am full blooded italian american. And I just wanted to say that I am white. Yes, I have olive skin, but I am still white. But I do think that we deserve our on race. We, the Greek, and all other medd. countries. But until then, we are cloest to white than black. Actually, we're probably closer to hispanic.

Italian is a nationality, not an ethnicity. In Italy, there are people of black ancestry, white ancestry, arab ancestry, etc. You must go by appearance and, if it's THAT important to you, DNA testing. The majority of Italians are of indo-European heritage/ethnicity. But there are some of black and arab ethnicity. However, must we forget that although Sweden and Finland are the blondest countries in the world, they have the highest Asian DNA in Europe. So Swedes and Finns are basically blue-eyed blond Asian mixes.(Look closely at the features of a Swede/Finn.) Much of Germany (other than Lower Saxony area) was invaded by Huns who were also Asian. Alpine ancestry is Asian. Most Germans are described this way. So they aren't totally pure either. So there are white Italians who are "purer" than Swedes and Germans. "Go figure."

You're not closer to Hispanic because Hispanics (as known in the U.S.) have Indian ancestry. Italians are closest to European whites because that's really what the vast majority of them ARE - white Europeans.

What are you talking about??? Italians are latin! Here the latin countries: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Moldavia.
We call South and central America Latin America because of course of the languages (Portugese and spanish)!
So what you say doesn't make any sense...I'm pretty sure you meant "latino" by latin. But you cannot put every latinos countries in the same bag. Because if you go in Salvador, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil for exemple, cultures, people, history are very different.
But are we here talking about Italo American or Italians??

Nobody is "pure" anything. Most people think of Chinese people as one monolithic ethnicity but the truth is, modern day chinese people, even though most identify themselves as Han ethnicity, are really a mix of numerous peoples. That's why you have Chinese people who are super pale to super dark with a wide range of facial features.

I don't get your question. Even if Italians are one day no longer considered "white", they'll still always be "Italians" to me. What's the point of trying to "classify" people?

well Iknow that some Italians are a mixture of other mediteranean countries and ethnicities like, Greek, Spanish, French, Romanian,Albanian, Eeven a Little bit of Arab and north African,ie; Morocan,Algerian,Egyptian,Tuns anian,Algerian,.....

Many are mixed with SOME or all of the above ^^^

However not all are, there are Italians who look Anglo white with blue eyes and blond hair but its not as common!

There is a major difference between ANGLOS (from Britain) and Italians.
Anglos are about as white as they come (anglo saxons). Even Irish don't compare to the whiteness of Anglos (sharp noses, pointed long narrow faces, straight hair, pale skin) Irish people are not that white.

Italians are definitely NOT WHITE. Particularly southern Italians and Sicilians,
they are really Arabs, and have African descent. Look at their huge noses, big primitive jaws, and large chins (Jay Leno) These are not Anglo white features.

The shape of their heads is quite primitive compared to the narrow sharp features of an Anglo British looking person or Norwiegan.

The olive skin thing is another non white feature.

Anyone from the Mediteranean region is not really white.
Look at all the races from around that area, they all look similar.

I don't pretend to be some race expert, but from what I recall Italians could be classified as Caucasoid rather than Caucasian (sometimes Caucasoid means Caucasian, sometimes not). It all seems rather arbitrary, as repeated invasions across Europe resulted in less than pristine racial definitions. In Italy you had Carthaginians, Moors, Turks, Arabs, Huns, Goths, Vandals, and countless other tribes who either settled or just stayed long enough to copulate.

The moral of the story? I'm not sure, but it might put some of the racial definitions (white, black, mixed, etc.) into perspective. They are based on our current appearances, not on the appearances of our great great great grand children.

Exactly. You call an Italian non-white you WILL get a slap and quite rightfully. Italians and Greek are the VERY cornerstone of European civilization, they are what it means to be white: traditional and family oriented and many disapprove of interracial marriage. THEY ARE WHITE. They may be a darker shade of white just like Tyra Banks is a lighter shade of black. Italian skin tone comes from climatic adaptation NOT racial mixing.

...climate adaption ? most italians do also also look very oriental/middle eastern and even north african from their facial features and body sizes, does that come from climate adaption too ?

i know the southern are different than the northern genetically or in appearance however they must be sub-race of white.

i don't think they must look Celtics to consider white.
