The same thing can be said of Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, former President Hipolito Mejia looks like nothing but European, just like some others...but majority look more on the mixed race side rather than fully white. I get your point though, but Latino is still used as a racial designation by most people who use it. In America , if someone who looks like John Leguizamo commit a crime, when police give another police officer his description they will say, a "Hispanic/Latino male", 5'9, 160 lbs..etc. description=race...they do that because his is a common look for Latinos..if it was a white Latino they would just say white because most latinos don't really look all white.

Do you apply that same rule to your people?
It doesn't apply because Haiti is majority black. Our mixed race population however usually look like Hispanics/Latinos. examples would be Haitians like Vanessa Nina

Sarodj Bertin http://kreyolicious.com/wp-content/uploads/20...

and former dictator/president Raoul Cedras

Could be due to Haiti's proximity to Cuba and D.R, could be Taino Indians that survived Christopher Columbus' onslaught...don't really know.

dude, at least two of those people on that link are black: the guy playing the skin drum (although he could just as easily be from South Asia, or a really really dark native american), and the guy with the mustache with the forest green shirt playing the wooden horn. All the rest look native american to me...and then theres the white chick in the background looking like a tourist.

As for "those who dun "feel black" shouldn't step on the "slave ship"", first, i gotta say this..

1) fck you

2) dat sht don't work like dat in america...

3) you can't just decide "hey, i feel asian today' and decide to forgo your "brazilian/latino" ship and jump ship to "japan" and have people believe you/have it work out. Ppl are gonna look at you like you're crazy, but if you like dat then that's you boo lol.

yall wanna b white so damn bad! the Euro world doesn't see "latino" as "white" they see you as an inbred mestizo that is trying to be european but the europeans don't want anything to do with you because the majority of yall are "contaminated" with either negro or native american blood. That's a fact.

even my cousin with the surname Gomez-rodriguez probably would be given the side-eye by a lot of ango/french descendants down south just because of her name association with the mestizos of "mexico/latin america". In many cases, pure spaniards who come over to america from spain are wrongfully lumped into the "latino/mestizo" category because SO MANY latinos identify as "Spanish" (trynna be white again) and not "mexican/latin american", so then when an ACTUAL SPANIARD sets foot in america they think he's mexican lol

Genevieve,

I see what you are saying now. In America and speaking on primarily America, here Creoles are black being that we do have this one drop rule created by whites. Going into European countries though, we are all simply Americans whether we are Creole, hispanic, white, black, Asian, etc. They go by nationality for the most part in the east including in Africa. But if an individual has one white parent and the other parent is black, there is no way I can see them being black or white. They are simply mulattoes or biracial. White does not produce black as black does not produce white. But even many black hispanics would look foolish referring to themselves as black Americans when many of them are in fact mulattoes themselves. Have you ever heard of the bachata band, Aventura? I look at them and don't see black. I see Dominican or hispanic (or black hispanic). If they wanted to refer to themselves as black, then it's their choice but nonetheless they are Dominicans to me or latinos. And I know hispanic/latino isn't a race or origin just as I know Creole technically isn't a race or origin either. They both have similiarities, just different racial makeups.
