i have been noticing a very interesting trend...which nobody seems to have picked up on...

i have been noticing amongst my dad's friends...and people that ive met...evesdropped on covnversations that more educated blacks (due to globalization) are choosing to move abroad and launch their careers in europe..africa and the arabian gulf...

i heard more and more blacks moving to Abu Dhabi, Doha...some moving to east asia..and even to rapidly developing african nations ...

why do u think this is happening..and increasing significantly?

do u think racism, problems within the education system, job opportunities, etc...which honestly has caused the mass exodus of blacks from the west coast will proliferate into a massive exodus of blacks leaving this country? how can we make things better?

They get mistreated badly in America. Racism is not as bad in other areas.

maybe its like you stated, those countries have alot of good business prospects, especially in the gulf. I don't think there will be a mass exodus of african americans to those countries, if many sri lankans and bangladeshis are not treated that well over there, not sure how they would treat blacks. I think its great when AAs go to Africa to found businesses/ live whatever. People don't nkow how much oppurtunity is really over there, especially countries like ghana, benin, gabon, etc. I hope that trend continues, of course you have to be careful too. I can't see as anythign but a postive thing in the long run

Whatever the reason, I think it's great, and not because I think blacks should leave the USA.
I think it's great because America can be a very provincial place. Everyone should get out and experience the world. We get too caught up in our little neighborhoods and ideas of race and identity.
It's a big ol' world, people. Check it out.

Educated AA should be international just like other people of color. Places like South Africa and UAE are starting to need more educated people. And english is the language of business but knowing the local language is a must.
Africans go all over the World to get educated and most never return home. So educated people need to go where their skills are needed. Most jobs are leaving America and going to developing countries anyway.

I've been seriously thinking about taking my career and family abroad, not because I'm AA but for the experience and understanding of the world. This will open my give my kidz an opp. to learn...I also want to do my part in the developement in Africa.

I myself am an AA considering the same move. I want to get to know and experience Africa and it's people. I also want my children to have a better understanding of the world and than I did growing up in the US.

well I'm leaving this week for South Africa, I made a decision about a year ago that my future as an educated African American was not in this country, and that I would be better served to emigrate, so I made a plan and am making it happen. I see both sides of the equation, and plan to keep my US citizenship, but certainly feel under-appreciated in this country, and feel that my standard of living will certainly be higher abroad.

I TOO HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO AFRICA, OR ISRAEL...I AM "AA", AND WE ARE MILITARY, I HAVE LIVED IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF U.S. AND YES IT BOILES DOWN TO THE SAME THING HERE, REDUNDANCY! VERY FRUSTRATING. OVER THE COURSE I HAVE BEEN LEARNING ABOUT AFRICANS AND CURRENT DAY LIFE, I AM VERY IMPRESSED. NOT WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT ACTUALLY! THERE IS SO MUCH BEAUTY AND QUALITY IN AFRICA. MOST AFRICANS KNOW MORE THAN ONE LANGUAGE. I THINK AFRICA WILL BE A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE AND RAISE A FAMILY. AMERICA HAS GONE DOWN AND IS NOT GETTING ANY BETTER. yEA- LETS BOUNCE!

painfully obvious that you know nothing about what you are talking about !

have you ever been to africa...as an 'african american'?

aa's in africa are looked at as second class citizens and not of the same race.
oh at first you will be o.k. until they find out where you came from...lol...incase you don't remember africa SOLD your butt into slavery to get the garbage OUT ! what makes you think they actualy want you back?
unless you bring in a truckload of cash (to buy your acceptance)you will be looked on the same way you are here !and here you are looked on as for what you are, regardless of race.
incase you haven't noticed we have a black prez !
PROOF that this country (in its self)is not racist as you say(yes there are still racist people here....most of them black....keep reading this forum you'll see)but the 'country' isn't.
FACT obahma could not have been elected with only the black vote as blacks only make up 12% of the population,to get elected he HAD TO HAVE THE WHITE VOTE !if this country were racist the 73% white population would have never stood for it and there would have been a 100% white vote turnout to vote in mc cain based on his color!

africa is now 98% black yet racism is rampent towards whites and excessivly bad towards other black groups.you could say racism is WORSE in africa but then you would be making a statement of fact and i don't think you have a concept of what FACT is.

My response is based on the assumption that you are an AA (a very stupid one and a Republican arselicker too). The reason for that assumption is that on the internet one is what he or she wants to be. The Democrats whose parties were packed when Obama won would differ with your narrow minded and resentful comment which I am going to treat with the contempt it deserves...!
We have many AAs in the country, their kids go to Wits university, UCT and other varsities, if what you are saying had any element of truth they wouldn't be here. AAs who want to hear the truth about how AAs live in SA should google Wits Univerity and make contact with the AA Wits professor of Architecture who, not so long ago, spoke frankly about their stay in SA on national TV. I heard that there are some in Botswana (and possible Namibia).
Thank you for doing everybody a huge favour by settling on a name that suits you best. You are a moron that has an inferiority complex, you must be one of those AAs who come to Africa with condescending attitude and have it thrown back at them. I can't speak for other countries on this issue but only for South Africans. We don't take rubbish from anybody and are not going to relax the rule because you are an AA. We've had AAs like you in the country, many have since gone back to US, SA became a living hell for them because of their stinking 'slave master' attitudes.
If you come here with the attitude that says Africans sold your forefather to slave traders and take that on Africans in SA, you are going to get the unexpected. History tells us that not a South African was sold as a slave, not one. Because of that, we refuse to answer for slavery and will not have the likes of you taking their resentment on us South Africans.
You talk of being treated as a second class citizen, thats how you want to treat Africans (in SA) in their countries. You are not going to be allowed to take the place of whites. The likes of you are the type that is comfortable with the beneficiaries of apartheid, something we have no problem with (thats your choice) as long as you don't give us the 'white' attitude because if you do we are going to do to you what we do to them and more for coming here to practise white supremacy on us. The likes of you hate their skins so much they have convinced themselves that to Africans, they are white simply because they are Americans. What you miss is that we know a lot more about your country, how AAs are treated and discriminated against, what you also don't know is that many South Africans don't fancy US.
People like you should not travel, maybe they should, and move around Europe where they'll be put in their place. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you are one of those AAs who are posted to Africa to spy for the CIA, we know about that too, so be warned, Africa is not for CIA pansies...! One of your buddies was busted in Zimbabwe, the guy must be grateful Mugabe was not in the mood and simply sent him home immediately.
JUST SO YOU KNOW - We, South Africans neither want nor need your truck load of money, we know the Robin Hoods like you who get cash from CIA to throw around to buy acceptance from individuals to pass them information. In most cases you are not asked for that dirty blood cash, you buy your way into people's hearts so you can deliver to your CIA masters.

The textbook in your head has not done anything for you, you are not educated but indoctrinated and brainwashed. Broad minded African Americans must not listen to your rubbish, they must travel and get first hand experience. It is true many AAs are establishing connections with Africa. I'd strongly recommend that those with technical skills consider setting up labour intensive investments in East Africa, that is, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, those countries are peaceful, freindly and in need of investment. They can also consider Zimbabwe one the dust has settled.

The only thing is that these countries might not have enough high voltage required by industry. This is an opportunity for AA engineers who have the financial muscle to invest in the construction of power stations. Asians and Chinese are leaping at opportunities in Africa, why not AAs.

I've noticed that in SA African American women fare and settle in fairly well than men. Even in interviews women outline their achievements, which some say would have been impossible to achieved in the US because of the gender/race ceiling.
