Blood Bank, first traffic light, multi plex telegraph, more than three hundred different products derived from the peanut, some one hundred from sweet potatoes, about seventy-five from pecans, and many more from Georgia clay, the gas mask, used by firemen in the early 1900s and by soldiers in World War I, a device that allowed machines to be lubricated while they were still in operation, automatic refrigeration system for long-haul trucks in 1935 (a roof-mounted cooling device). Jones was the first person to invent a practical, mechanical refrigeration system for trucks and railroad cars, which eliminated the risk of food spoilage during long-distance shipping trips. The system was, in turn, adapted to a variety of other common carriers, including ships

Black inventors have contributed so many inventions that they are too long to list. From the worlds fastest computer and laser surgery for cataracts to the range oven and the guitar.

I am very thankful for their intelligence. On the other hand ignorance and bigotry from any race is a crying shame.
FYI the first known car jacking was done by a French gang that was white. Also racism was started by whites , think about it. Now who is racist?

You're such an ignorant little aysshole. You don't even know what black people have been through in the face of America. The only reason why many people don't acknowledge the accomplishments of what many black people have invented because it was forbidden to portray black people as equal to whites which is why they overexaggerate and emphasized the pessimistic stereotypes such as drug dealers, prostitutes etc. Little has changed in these times, but especially where segregation was still instituted they received no credit at all since whites quickly used their invention as a foundation to create even better things and therefore received higher and all the credit. You think it's a coincidence that America has established Black History Day. They gotta remember something that's worthwhile other than stereotypes. Why are you feeling so pessimistic? As if in reference to that think hard comment, black people never made anything.

Here goes the long list and I don't have to think hard.

ELECTRIC LAMPBULB (Lewis Latimer, March 21st 1882--all Thomas Edison did was make a current to get it to light)
TRICYCLE (a white man stole the idea to create a bicycle and got all the credit)
200+ yr old CLOCK MADE COMPLETELY OUT OF WOOD (still works to this day!)

and many more...

'm a neutral stance in this but if you want to get a little deepe in this controversial subject, I don't know if you believe in Jesus or not but one thing is for sure is that Jesus of Nazareth himself is not white. Everything in the Bible happened near or in Africa itself.

Don't believe everything that TV portrays, babycakes. Remember that white genius scientist who conducted an experiment to substantiate his hypothesis that black people are dumber than white people? Through his experiment, he learned that he himself is biologically both white and black. Due to the one drop rule, many people consider people as black once they have that distinctive dark skin even though they may have white ancestry in them as well but they disregard the fact that many mulattos and other biracial people are biologically black even though the trademark darker skin is absent. Most African-Americans are not even 100% black but yet thats what they are consider. That's why there are light-skinned blacks and dark-skinned blacks. The best way to breed slaves wasn't through purchase; it was through raping female black slaves to birth "black" babies who are actually 1/2 black and 1/2 white. A perfect example is Senator Barack Obama. The media reports him as being the first black this and the first black that but where do you see them calling him white too, white or even multi/biracial? They feel a need to distinguish anyone with a trace of black blood apart from white blood. Someone made a famous quote, "a white mother can give birth to a black baby but a black mother cannot give birth to a white baby" in reference of this one-drop-rule.

I just wish in the future that race shouldn't play such a motivating factor in America.

Benjamin Banneker
(1731-1806) Born into a family of free blacks in Maryland, Banneker learned the rudiments of reading, writing, and arithmetic from his grandmother and a Quaker schoolmaster. Later he taught himself advanced mathematics and astronomy. He is best known for publishing an almanac based on his astronomical calculations.

Dr. Daniel Hale Williams
(1856-1931) Williams was born in Pennsylvania and attended medical school in Chicago, where he received his M.D. in 1883. He founded the Provident Hospital in Chicago in 1891, and he performed the first successful open heart surgery in 1893.

George Washington Carver
(1865?-1943) Born into slavery in Missouri, Carver later earned degrees from Iowa Agricultural College. The director of agricultural research at the Tuskegee Institute from 1896 until his death, Carver developed hundreds of applications for farm products important to the economy of the South, including the peanut, sweet potato, soybean, and pecan.

Charles Henry Turner
(1867-1923) A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Turner received a B.S.(1891) and M.S.(1892) from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D.(1907) from the University of Chicago. A noted authority on the behavior of insects, he was the first researcher to prove that insects can hear.
