Less I be called a racsist again, let me put this as respectful as possible. How does something that happened almost 400 years ago affect people today. I mean lets be reasonable here. Everyone's ancestors went through hardship. My ancestors survived the potato famine in Ireland and was discriminated against when they first landed on the shores of America. They were told to go back. And my Italian ancestors suffered through economic depression in Italy. No one's suffering can be qualified. Slavery also existed in many cultures before America. I personally don't c how slavery still affects people today. And other people should not be made to feel guilty for something they had no control over. No disrespect, but people do this. I think everyone in this country would be better off if we just get stop thinking about it.

We usually do stop thinking about it until something reminds us (which may be everyday, several times a day). You said "I personally don't c how slavery still affects people today." I agree that you probably don't know. Read up on American Slavery and find out the inherent differences in the practice of slavery in this country. You will see how the slaves were treated as sub human and that NO other country or empire ever did this amongst other things.

You said "And other people should not be made to feel guilty for something they had no control over. No disrespect, but people do this." I would say that they shouldn't feel guilty. Guilt implies that you did it or you feel like you did it. If you are not guilty this feeling would not arise. One should think about 'feeling' guilty and why they do.

I would rather people not forget, but be willing to embrace each other regardless. I hear people say why bring up racial issues (when they are real)? I hear people say I didn't do anything so don't blame me. My ancestors had it bad too. But these are statements of ridicule and only reflect the issue and don't help. If there is something that still affect Italians and the Irish through discrimination, that too should be discussed and the issues should be taken seriously, not brushed aside because somebody else has it bad too, NO! We should take care of all of it.
When I look at history I too see all that you see with the immigrants from other countries. They had it bad. I also see, however, how these people over time, blended right in with society, moved up the power chain or maybe even started their own little cities within cities full of culture and intrigue. Black Americans on the contrary have been ridiculed for trying to make it for themselves, were literally denied their 15th Amendment right to vote until the voting right act of 1965 (not quite 400 years ago), and are disproportionately incarcerated.punished like no other race. These are facts of the people who have the same blood I do and I have to acknowledge their plight, because it affects me which means it affects all of us. It's not something I can forget because the problems we have now stem from this historical event. These actions today are the direct result of this country's addiction to keeping the black man enslaved. If you feel like black people need to get over it; help us. Embrace us, employ us, teach us, mentor us, believe in us, just like you believe in everyone else. Don't ridicule us because we want to know why we are still in the back seat. Look us in the eye, smile and say, "do you want to learn how to drive?" Let me show you.

It would take a white man from Ireland to make a lefthanded statement like you see you are white first,Last,Always your ancestors might have caught hell when you FIRST got here in AmeriKKKa but you Blended in with no problem because of your skin color and benefited from your whiteness to this very day so I dont need whiteman rationalizing about Slavery before you cant amagine what it is to be Black in AmeriKKKa it is your Arrogant mentality that is the problem and untill you have Experienced and lived our History you have no say or reference to speak from all you can do is asppose you white based beliefs which is steeped in Ignorance as usual so I sugjest to you is to find out about our History before you open your mouth about this topic because it just like you white boys to jump to the wrong Conclusions that why there will never be any real peace in this world as long as one of you are braething anywhere on this Planet! am just keeping it Real!

OYGW this guy is from the Jacksonville area. When my parents were living there around 1992 or 4 they were trying to pass a law to desegragate schools in Duval County (Jacksonville). This is the type of thing that baffles me, but angers whites. Why would anyone be angry with people coming to learn in a school with better facilities and educators? What would cause them to feel upset? And is it racism or maybe the 'slave' mentality that brings these feelings to the surface? I hear it all the time. Black people want access to something better and white people shout hooey and call in special treatment, racism (or even worse, reverse racism). Why does this happen? Is it the black peoples fault, are we to blame for trying to better our lives? Because all I hear is people complaining about 'why do black people get special treatment', even when they are obviously getting short change? I would stand by ANY American citizen that is getting short changed for services, wouldn't you. Getting a fair shake is not special treatment. Revealing injustice is not rubbing it in. Trying to make this country live up to its promises is not whining or complaining. It just seems to be considered this by many non-blacks/ minorities.

Well Larry on this thread its okay for u to be racist. People are going to love u for hating white people and trying to exterminate them. But as long as u are talking about who reaps the benefits, understand that there is alot of white people, who u would call white trash i am assuming, that are dirt poor. the reason u don't hear about it is because the media likes to cover it up. there were also many poor whites during slavery time too. their kids are not reaping benefits.

Well Mr. Darryl what u say makes alot of sense and on this we agree. But it is a myth to think that Italians and other sub groups depicted as a white majority don't face the same problems (albeit on a lesser scale)in America. There are prejudices against them too (which is why I laugh and take offense when people call me racist). As for the guilt thing, i feel like black people and my friends included (and yes i am still culturally black) talk about it too much and then want to look at me funny. Like its my fault or somethin, and then when u tell them that its lame, they get all mad. I don't know, thats why I wish the stuff would go away.

Well i am assuming u have never read my posts before, but i do not believe in the physical manifestation of race, just culture. so therefore i don't agree with the whole white boy stuff. and while u are talking about white people, how do u know u don't have some white in u from in the past. Now that is sad. I know I would go off if something like that happened to my son. I hoped they sued that school district for every penny they are worth. I think all American kids should be able to go to school together. But u know what, like i said on the other thread where they were talkin about schools that they need to fix the schools in the cities. Thats why my son is going to go to Hillside and not them other schools. Some people in this county are so screwed up.

I have a problem with special treatment for anybody. It's the social experiments that have Blacks in the mess they are in now. Look at public housing...what a nightmare.
If you have two sons, and one is normal but the other is handicapped, say, with a severe limb deforminty...do you give handicapped son special treatment or push him to figure out how to survive on his own? Black people survived, thrived, and multiplied post slavery because they were good at improv and were inventive.

White people are causing a lot of problems for this world. They're so hung up on power and greed they will do anything to gain capitol. Everything they see other cultures have they want to take. Everything they touch they destroy. Their greedy like this by nature.

is that because whites are a majority? what about africa?not too many whites in charge there.you might want to examine your race before spewing things like the above.

FYI Slavery ended in american just over 150 years ago. Segregation was a by-product of slavery which ended around 30 years ago. Racism another by-product of slavery continues today.

Once you go white: Well you are right when you said that everybodys ancestors did go through alot. Every race has been in slavery some point in time it did happen. Ok let me get to the point like I said that every race had slavery but the African peoples had it the worse and make it sadder people in the village sold there kin to the white folks. And how it affects black people today is that we are remind of it and we just love talking about racism and about what happened, that to know black people were told they were not from Africa and the slave masters would tell them that the people in Africa are dirty wash yourself because you are not them. We have also been told by white people that we were not beautiful, your hair is just so nappy. Slavery has also affected black people because we don't know what part of West Africa we come from there's alot of black people who want to know where they come from, and some do not because of the history of slavery. I hope you can understand what I'm saying I'm in such a rush. But I do not think your post is racist; I think you just want to know.
