Kalari Payat: Mother of All Martial Arts

There are 108 marmas in a human body of which 64 are mainly used during fights. Hitting these marmas with bare hands, elbows or even pressing with fingers can freeze or disable certain parts of the body, can make a man unconscious. There are many techniques to make it back normal, these are scientifically described in the kalari texts .

ndia too has numerous martial arts, kalaripayattu of Kerala being the most well-known among them. The highest stage of kalaripayattu is marmaadi, based on the knowledge of the body's marma (vital) points. The human body is believed to have 26 meridians through which prana or chi flows. Marma points, over a hundred, are located on these meridians. When pressure is applied on a marma point, the prana flow alters. The key lies in the degree of force used. A forceful blow on a marma point might lead to paralysis or even death. Less pressure applied in a particular way on the same point will induce healing by correcting the prana flow, as done in marma chikitsa, practiced in Kerala.

Marma Vibhaga (pressure point portions): Only selected students who are interested and efficient to become the masters are taught the Marma Shastram (vital points or pressure points). The art of attacking vital points based on Marma sutras ( "hymns"), describe in detail the exact location of 108 vital points of human body and the symptoms arising when these points are used or attacked. The sutras also devote many pages regarding the qualities required to become a master like the abolition of the ego, absolute control of anger, tranquility of mind. The true master does not use this art for personal use. He should teach this knowledge to the disciples whose honesty and sincerity have been proven and who have already gone through all stages of technical Kalaripayat.

In Dragon style Kung Fu, power is believed to emanate from the waist. Because the waist is the largest muscle in the body (something not everyone is particularly proud of) and the only one cross-hatched in three different directions, it is considered the best source of physical power. Most people use the strength of their upper bodies and shoulders. But Dragon style Kung Fu teaches people how to draw energy from the waist and manifest it through their hands and feet.

In India, yoga is the most popular method of raising and regulating one's prana or chi. In the Far East, martial arts practice was popular for raising chi.

Breathing in and out through the nose is the only method that enables the body to process Chi energy effectively. Most people understand the importance of breathing in through the nose. When we breathe in through the nose, there are a series of defense mechanisms that prevent impurities and extremely cold air from entering the body

By exhaling through the nose, rather than allowing the Chi energy to be expelled with the carbon dioxide, we transfer it to the dan tien or hara, located about three finger widths below the umbilicus. With each breath we take in, more Chi enters the body and circles down to the dan tien, growing stronger and stronger. During this breathing process, the tongue is up, touching the top palate of the mouth just behind the front teeth and the air is expelled from the nose with a slightly audible hiss. There is also a feeling of the abdominal walls contracting down with the exhalation.

an example of the breathing methods used to build up the "chi".This style is called "Tensho" or "rotating palms".Generally there two inhalations for one exhalation. This is usually taught at the green belt level.

The sun is now in Gemini, which rules the hands and lungs.

It is said you can form a sort of chakra ball in between your hands . And that this ball can also be used as a weapon. As a sort of push. Or to stop their flow of chakra etc. also that when ready you can use chakras to empower kicks and attacks to make them faster and stronger.

The body has meridians that correspond with different parts of the body.
The lung channel of the Hand originates from the lateral aspect of the chest near the arm pit .

The large intestine channel of the Hang-Yangming starts from the tip of the index finger. Running upward along the radical aspect of the index finger

The heart channel of the Hand starts in the center of axilla. From there is goes along the posterior border of the medial aspect of the upper arm

Ra (pronounced Rau, hence Am/light, aurum (oro)/gold, aura, auraut/ureus, origin, etc.) is the active state of Nu/Nut, the undifferentiated infinite energy/matter It is known as Chi or Ki in the oriental tradition, Kundalini in Dravidian India. The planets, including the earth with its life forms, owe their existence to the solar emanations. As the solar energy, then, is the material, and energy basis for the creation, and maintenance of life (physical, and metaphysical), the wisdom traditions of Africa, and the Orient devised ways of manipulating it. No, They never worshiped it. What western scholars have interpreted as sun worship are the many practices for cultivating it, replenishing it, divining its activities (as it works outside the ken of normal waking consciousness), living in harmony with the rhythmic and cyclical manifestations of its modalities ("air (wood)," "fire," "earth (metal)," and "water").

mars(Kuja) in vedic system) in Libra is the peaceful warrior. You win battles through peace in diplomacy, ghandi had that placement. But because its in the 29th degree,itís the weakest point in the sign often showing more of the next sign than the sign itís in.The planet and house placement is always getting ready to make a change and the 29th degree adds a decision making complication to the house. In your case it adds scorpio energy.Whats more important is to know what house your mars is in also.

Your mars sign tell how you fight and defeat your enemy as well as courage.Mine is in the 8th house(scorpio's house)which adds fearless courage.Scorpio is a fearless warrior.Depending on aspects, mars in 8th house can produce criminals, pimps, drug dealers, pornstars,or shamans, tantra masters, warriors, atheletes or healers.
Mars in 8th house deals with sports injuries, which is what ended mine.

"Bravery without forethought, causes a man to fight blindly and desperately like a mad bull. Such an opponent must not be encountered with brute force, but may be lured into an ambush and slain."--Sun Tzu(Art of war)

Never fight a train head on.

is usually always a bad idea in the martial arts to attack them head-on. Always be looking to take an angle when attacking, even if it is only an inch or so off to the left or right. Even a slight angle change can alter the power, speed and perception of your attack and the reaction of your opponent.

The moon is in capricorn. Mars the planet of war is exalted/strongest in capricorn(where my mars is).Descipline is a capricorn strength.Every great warrior must have descipline.

Liu Hsiang (80-9 BC) says: "The reason why Sun Tzu at the head of 30,000 men beat Ch`u with 200,000 is that the latter were undisciplined."

ďOne mark of a great soldier is that he fight on his own terms or fights not at all.Ē--sun Tzu, The Art of War

Make the enemy fight your fight. Many people are good at certain techniques or ranges. Shorter fighters like to get inside and bang on you, then exit out the side. Taller fighters like to keep you at long range. Wrestlers want to close the gap, grab you and get you on your back. Quickly determine what it is they want to do and donít let them do it. If they want to kick you, get too close to kick. If they are punchers, tie them up and clinch them or keep them out on the end of your kicking range. By keeping him from his strengths and sticking to yours ,you gain the advantage.

There is an old wall-picture of Karnak, belonging to the era of the 18th dynasty, in wich the god Set appears as an instructor of King Tutmosis III(Biblical King David)in the science of the Art of War.

The moon is in Aries, the warrior.Every age produces ascended masters such as Krishna, or benevolent warrior priests such as Prince Amenemhat of ancient Kemet. It is almost certain that during our modern era, the martial sciences in the west will lead a few practitioners, if not more, to similar levels of insight and achievement. In Africa today, despite her many problems, there can still be found masters and warrior priests of high spiritual orders among the Dogon of Mali, the Ife of Nigeria, the Zulu of South Africa, and other African people. The traditional martial arts are still being practiced.

The Mesakin and Kao Nuba people of present day Sudan still have a mandate that requires every young man to enter into martial arts training. These arts have much more to do with the development, and continuation of a spiritual tradition than anything else. Iowa State wrestling coach Bobby Douglas, who claims direct lineage to the Nuba of Sudan confirmed in recent interview that, "Even today, wrestling is still a part of the religion (re-ligion) of the Nuba

The moon is still in Aries the warrior.

"Observe the twelve celestial forms, and master their different roles, and your wushu will be ten times stronger!"

There are kung fu stances dedicated to each of the 12 chinse zodiac. The use of the Chinese Zodiac correspond to the elements which have many uses in different arts. For instance: Rat: Wood Shao Yang, Gallbladder
Ox: Wood Jue Yin, Liver
Tiger: Metal Tai Yin, Lung
Rabbit: Metal Yang Ming, Large Intestine
Dragon: Earth Yang Ming, Stomach
Snake: Earth Tai Yin, Spleen
Horse: Fire Shao Yin, Heart
Ram: Fire Tai Yang, Small Intestine
Monkey: Water Tai Yang, Bladder
Rooster: Water Shao Yin, Kidneys Dog: Fire Jue Yin, Pericardium Boar: Fire Shao Yang, Triple Heat
Stance of the Harmonious Ram

The Ram represents Chi. Harmony and the principles of balance. A martial artist in this form flows towards yin chi, and back away from yang chi. His combat movements are like the flow of water, sometimes moving back like the retreating tide, sometimes crashing in like a wave.

There actually is a nature based on the five elements responding to the Yin of the five emotions: Anger (Wood, Liver), Joy (Fire, Heart), Distress/Worry (Earth, Spleen), Grief/Sadness (Metal, Lungs), and Fear (Water, Kidneys). There is also five spirits of the 5 Yin Organs/Elements; soul, spirit, logic, courage and will for wood, fire, earth, metal and water respectively. In the Chinese Zodiac, not only is there an animal for every month there's also on for every year, season, and day (sunday and monday being day of yin and yang). The elements (thus corresponding animal) cycles throughout the day every 2 hours, for instance; 11:00pm to 1:00am is the time of the rat (Wood, Gallbladder), etc. etc. in the same order as above every two hour
