I rather see our black women with a thick healthy natural crop - no weave, or straighter. Even the very short natural crop is pleasing on the eye; I'm really digging the way Kanye's new girlfriend, Amber Rose, wear her hair... And IMHO, a lot of black women still don't like to see black men with anyother race. But the same can be said about white women. Ultimately, there's still a lot of race hating on both sides of the fence.

Maybe not the American white women, some European ones like from Serbia, Italy, etc may tend to be curvier like many sistahs are....but then again the ones in the south that's valid as well, I'm in North Carolina right now for a family and I see the difference.

It shouldnt matter if a person wants to wear their hair long, short, straight, curly, or nappy... Everybody has the right to wear their hair how they want to... Its not illegal for a black girl to wear her hair straigh so until it is ppl need to get over it...

If this isn't one of the most ridiculous topics to discuss. Black women should be allowed to sport what ever hair style that they want to without any comment from anybody else. What does straight hair have to do with Caucasian women, you think that they invented straight hair or something? Conversely do you think that everybody in Africa is sporting a fro...no! And people keep mentioning slavery, white women in slave times didn't even wear their hair down unless they were about to go to bed, cause otherwise it would be seen as immodest. I like my hair down because it frames my face, cause my cheek bones are extremely high that you can tell I'm smiling from the back...I don't like it so I have my hair cover it up, although I stopped relaxing it, and now just condition and straighten with a flat iron for the same results...Now about black men dating white women, why do we need to use colors when we determine who we date, if you like a woman and you want to date her, that is your right to do so, same for women, you shouldn't barred from dating or marrying someone just because you don't happen to be the same color...I'm 18, grew up in an all black community, listened to my damn near racist mother, and have still figured all this out.

these are the facts of the matter. SO LISTEN UP, and let me learn you something!. historically black women (and even some black men) permed their hair to emulate white people. because we were brainwashed to think that anything" white" was better. after decades of this practice, straightening hair has become so ingrained in black women, it has become the norm. on the flip side black men have come to accept this standard of beauty. unfortunately people engage in this practice without realizing the roots of it. but take a second to think why if a black person has light or curly hair it is referred to as "good hair", leaving coarse bushy hair to be considered "nappy" ie bad. i myself have been told countless times that i have "good hair", something that seems to be an anomaly seeing as i am a dark skinned black man from Africa!

If you perm your hair it becomes curly not straight, if you "relax" your hair then it becomes straight. And this is not only in the black community, historically Whites used irons to straighten their hair, cause guess what even they knew that straighter her while not necessarily pretty was more manageable than curly hair, and many White females in the past, if they had straight hair it would be called limp, lanky, and other words. And once again White women did not even wear their hair down as the norm until about 40 years ago, this being after Madame C.J. Walker created her hair care inventions for Blacks. Before this wearing your hair down unless you were a child was seen as wanton, or that you were trying to attract the wrong kind of attention, look up photos of Whites 100 years ago and tell me how many of them you see with their hair down. And if it was was it really straight or were curls present?

You people Bore Me wrote: You all are idiots. Whatever the dominant culture is ie; European/white people, that's what people are going to want to be. That's why people all over the world are bleaching their skin, straightening and BLEACHING their hair blonde and asians are getting eye surgery. This is a result of mental colonialism. When black (African)people first saw white people they felt sorry for them and thought their straight hair looked weird. Soon as they were enslaved/economically colonized and were told their hair was nappy and ugly they started believing it was the truth. That's how Anglo-saxons were able to achieve global economic and territorial domination. You don't just physically oppress people, you psychologically and mentally damage them. So now black women are losing their hair to get ridiculous Euro weaves and burning their hair with stupid hot combs just so it can lay flat and dead on their head. Straight hair isn't bad, if it's natural to you. But I don't find it interesting. Btw, I'm a black woman with luscious dreads! Loooove my hair now. Why are white women getting skin cancer because they want to have dark skin like us

most of the time its not about being white, its just easier (for some)to straighten it, a nd many women have straight hair just not white, arab, greek, indian, hispanic, native american, why arent jewish and greek and middle eastern women accused of the same thing when they go blond or straighten out their curls. sometimes its just about what you like and what is easier to manage

No for many generations if you were light skinned or had long hair you were picked on and bullied and were guaranteed to get into fights because you looked white, you can find many stories of this kind all around, it is only fairly recent that lighter skin has been termed beautiful. Native Americans have hair that's straighter than any Whites, and they were still outcasts, but no one notices that though.

girl i LOOOOOOOOVES my coarse hair because the texture or BLACK WOMENS hair is stronger. Thick... and we have more styles having straight hair is a suggestion some white women want braids and to be honest braids are not meant to be in a white womans hair because of the thin texture will pull a white womans hair out.... unfortunately so it not that we really stuck on straight hair its a preferences but i LOve bushy hair.....next topic

We don't envy white women on their best days, not with that thin head of hair that starts to bald when they age...And don't get me on aging..white women hit a wall at an early age. They look like someone balled their face up like a piece of paper and tried to straighten it back out at the age of 30. White women do not perm their hair to be 'curly' like yours. African American hair is not the white standard for curly. And frankly, And no, I am not white. I am half white and half black, but to tell the truth I've always desired perfect, straight, Native American hair. This is not to say I dislike the hair of any race. You don't fight insult with insult.
