I know its hard for black men to protect black women when they themselves feel victimized in this society. Some brothers try to turn it around and black black women for sometimes bashing them but black men have been having most of these problems before black women vocalized their opinions publically in recent years so thats just an excuse. Its not a lie that black men are victimized in this country and go through a lot but they must realize they are not the only ones and they also do not go through it alone. Black women go through it right with them since the problems that affect black men affect black women as well.

Most of it is a family thing. I understand that some blacks like yourself from poor upbringing with weak family structure feel unprotected, but that's just not the case with most blacks.. men and women.

If you don't mind me asking, because I've always wanted to have this discussion with a black woman from a poor upbringing with worthless men in her family, but what do you mean by you feel unprotected?

I would like to correct the poster even though this was posted a long time ago.
Please say: "some"black american men.
Africans,afro-carribeans,and british blacks respect their women,protect them against racism and build families with them.
I am yet to hear or see any of the above mentioned men call their women bitches, say the "prefer"others from them(instead they date who they want without putting down their sisters). I live in southern africa,a part of africa where there is a lot of races,but the men here do not go on national tv to express their so called preference for another race.
We respect and cherish our women. I donot care what a blackwoman would say to me no matter how disrespectul,she would never make me hate my own race of women. Some women can be hurtful,but we are men,we cannot act like them.

That is why most of the countries in africa are getting together to stop bringing rap artists that have foul words in their songs. A lot of black men don't protect black women, I agree. However, there are many who do, and I happen to be one of them.

There was a guy who hit a female relative of mine, and she started crying, and he kept on bothering her.

But, it was me who stepped in and defended her, and I put that guy in his place, and he never bothered her again.

This took place many years ago.
