You've been drinking too much of that neo-con Koolaid. The budget here is a shambles, but for the most part life here is still good. Even the SF Giants are looking up. I ought to know. I live here.

On the other hand the City is going to install parking meters on the eastern side of Golden Gate Park in hopes that the revenue will help solve the budget crisis. They are raising prices and cutting services, but that's hardly any reason to feel as if we're slipping into an abyss.

California is still the good life.

Yes, it is!! Matter of fact California has been third world for sometime.

The sad story is that California is dying a slow painful death.

The budget mess is because of illegals. Anyone telling you otherwise is stupid, lying to you, or thinks you are stupid for believing such non-sense.

However, if you have the right amount of education and the right kind of career, you can buy a house in the right type of community and you really don’t notice a thing.

You shop at Whole Foods or any other high end food store and life is fine. You shop at the $0.99 cent store or any budget food store you might as well bring a translator.

You get a gym member ship at a muscle gym or a high end gym that gives spa treatments, has a Panini bar, or a juice bar and life is fine. I have no idea if there is such a thing as a cheap gym.

You send your kids to any private school or religious school that charges tuition (the higher the better) and life is fine. If you are unfortunate and have to send your kids to public school, your kids will need a translator and you should not be surprised if the drop out or fail out.

There are a few good public schools and they are in the typical expensive places. But other than that the schools have been absolutely and ruined.

The taxes are outrageous.

Seventh largest economy in the World? Big deal. There is not one aspect of the economy that can't be accomplished elsewhere more efficiently and cost-effective.

Silicon Valley? Nope. Ever heard of Austin , TX.?....Raliegh/Durham , NC.?.....Huntsville , AL.? Tech centers all. Agriculture? Ha. The produce grown in the valley can just as well be grown in Florida or Texas , at cheaper cost. Economically , the ONLY thing that state has of any real value is the Port of LA/Long Beach. But with the construction of the Deep Water port off the coast of Northern Mexico , even that will soon be irrelevant.

Add the DAILY natural disasters , the never-ending crime , the English speaking , tax-paying citizens fleeing the state by the busload (replaced by Spanish speaking illiterate peasants), and the burned-out Hippie assholes who run the state , and the future ain't looking good for Freakafornia.

In fact , if Mexico made me an offer for that dump (say , controlling interest in PEMEX National Oil AND the Mexican Tourism Board , worth BILLIONS), I'd sell it back to them YESTERDAY.

California is living of the reputation earned 30 years ago , and happy to say that reign of error is over.
