In The Shooting Of Trayvon Martin

Just when we thought the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case was over after Zimmerman’s acquittal, the Obama Administration has taken the steps needed to file federal charges, thus sidestepping the well established double jeopardy, against Zimmerman. Unidentified sources within the Administration have confirmed that Obama, and Justice Eric Holder at the Department of Justice have filed charges against Zimmerman for “violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights”.

Double jeopardy is an often misunderstood concept in American Law. The rule merely states that an individual cannot be tried twice for the same crime in the SAME COURT. Liberal Justice Department officials often charge Americans with crimes from which they have previously been acquitted by filing federal charges on a similar crime in a federal court.

This was floating around on Twitter and Facebook from different sources. I ended up Googling it to see if it were true. Found the article. And the question that I was asking myself if this is true the answer was already at the end of the article. Just didn't see it the first time. Read it again for the second time and saw it. And I already posted it. And Topix doesn't have a Delete Button. I guess Federal Charges will be filed. Just not coming from Obama.

Are people just forgetting that GZ lived in a gated community where there had been a rash of recent robberies? So why was there someone who didn't live there trolling about a gated community unless he was looking for TROUBLE!? There is no evidence of who confronted who. If I were GZ I would have followed him till he left the gated community or I found out what he was up to. No one has bothered to think what Trayvon was doing somewhere he shouldn't have been!!!!!
. Trayvon was staying in the gated community!

How are you the aggressor, and then claim self defense?

But now that its a mainstream case he wants to attach his name to it? He's using this tragic event for his own propaganda! So disrespectful to the Martin family

Try to do a little research before posting blatant lies. Trayvon's father's girlfriend owned a condo in this community and Trayvon was there visiting. He had as much right to be there as GZ. Just because there had been burglaries in that community did NOT give GZ the right to assume that Trayvon was a burglar but he did and we see the result of his actions.
Check your facts before you start .because Trayvon had much rights as Punk ass GZ to be out there .Just because you are African-Americans that doesn't make you poor or less fortunate. If we would stop shopping in some of these retail storeroom me What would happen (Out of Business)would display in Windows.

<quoted text> Gated community or not Zimmerman is not a police officer and should not have taken matters into his own hands when he was instructed not to ! There does not need to be evidence of who confronted who. GZ was wrong from the moment he started following him. What would you think if a stranger is following you a night? Your going to feel threatened. If that's the case then what your saying is any civilian who see's someone that they "think" is doing something wrong has the right to end their life. NO that is what we have law enforcement for. If he had listened to the police Trayvon would still be here today. Stop trying to justify what this man did. The point is that a young life was taken away for absolutly NOTHING !
Your right that is why we have law enforcement and if treyvon knew he was being followed which he did and felt that he was in danger he shoulda called those same law enforcement officers you mentioned with the phone he was using to talk to a friend. Know one deserved to die in this situation and it is horribly tragic that someone did. But they both did the same thing. George followed a guy while he shoulda let LE handle it and treyvon confronted a guy following him which he shoulda called LE and let them handle it

No! You do know who confronted who. All you know is that there was a confrontation and the child, Trayvon, was shot. Zimbo got away with this story, in part, because Trayvon was dead and there were no witnesses.

Sounded like a typical "Where're you from" confrontation. And when Trayvon said, NOYGDB, things got heated.
I understand your point of view but following someone does not make you the aggressor. This is a completely different comparison but none the less a comparison. If you are driving your car and someone is following closely behind you (riding your bumper) and you see this but then you slam on your breaks in the middle of the street and cause an accident does that make them an aggressor that caused the accident or was it your actions of slamming your breaks that caused it. In all fairness it was both parties that contributed to the accident. Now lets say the person who slammed the brakes died would the person riding the bumper be charged with anything? Maybe the would be charged with following at an unsafe distance but not any type of felony. Because ultimately the slamming of the brakes caused the collision

Your right we don't know 100% who confronted who. But we do know that they both had cell phones. And we do know that one of them called the police and gave his name and location and what he was observing those are not usually the actions of someone who is about to commit a felony to give that type of info. At the very least do we agree that z did not set out to kill in any way T? Now the very little evidence that there is does agree with z story. Doesn't make the fact the he took a life ok but does show that he was legitimately trying to find out what T was up to and not that he set out to kill. And the pictures of his face and head also agree with his story. I am not a lawyer in anyway and the only info I know is what was displayed in court and after seeing that it would cause me to believe in my opinion that T was the aggressor

Do you think George W. Bush would have filed the Federal Charges??? Justice was not severed at the state level so hopefully something is accomplished at the federal level. It is not disrespectful to the Martin family who has not seen any justice. This child lost his life for goodness sakes.

OK. Given all that you say, he was--nevertheless--instructed to wait for the cops.
