what are the ingredients in the aloe gel...I remember that one had sodium hydroxide..the main chemical for relaxers please don't tell you use the aloe vera jelly from lily of the desert aloe vera jelly. It is horribly drying because of all the chemicals in it...
If not then the reason why ,then the aloe dried your hair out is because it has PROTEIN, that's right aloe is definitely protein. This is why I stopped using it for now, I do protein treatment once every 4-6 weeks (natural hair does not really need protein but my tex-laxed ends need it) because protein on your hair in the daily basis can be a bit to much. In that case you probably didn't need to cut your ends, but a deep conditioning treatment to balance out the protein.
* edited* I didn't mean to say not a deep conditioning treatment.but to do a deep conditioning treatment

No, I used the actual plant and not a chemical gel. But that's good info to know. Maybe I do an Aloe wash once a quarter instead followed by a deep conditioning treatment.

I have no idea, I just remember reading that you have to be careful because manufacturers of aloe vera gel may use the whole inside including that latex which can cause allergies.

Although the challenge ends July 1st, 2008, I have decided to go without heat until July 20, 2008, by then my goal of BSL should be met.

I have noticed that since I haven't put heat in my hair in months, my hair has very little, if any breakage. Can't wait to report back in a few weeks.

Thank you for doing this! I've been wanting to commit to long healthy hair growth. I'm in. I just made a hair traetment of virgin coconut oil and essential oils of roemary, ylang ylang and frankincense (smells yummy). I'm really bad at taking supplements but I'v got a hair, skin, and nails supplement and omega-3. I'll do my best to take them with a multi. I have some brewers yeast that has been sitting on my shelf for months that I want to start taking again (loaded with b vitamins and amino acids). I looove sweets. What about healthy alternatives like soy ice cream or organic chocolate? Oatmeal with vegan butter & maple syrup? I just chopped up my hair trying to trim it myself. So it wouldn't look good straight any way.

The hair treatment that you made sounds lovely, will it be a pre-poo or for your scalp? also about the sweets, I say do whatever is best for you when it comes to the challenge..if you want to have organic sweets go for it.

taking a good natural conditioner and using it like a shampoo. it is good for moisturizing your hair and for people who exercise it can gently cleanse the hair.

I think the longest I would have my hair is shoulder length I don't want really long hair and I'd have curls.
