Well Paula Deen does care now that Food Network has kicked her show off it's channel and other endorsers are also disassociating themselves from her and product, not mention hurting the many innocent black fans who liked Paula watched her shows and spent money on her books etc.. Now Mrs. Deen is on tv embarrassed, apologizing and begging for forgiveness. I wonder if Southern whites will ever the sense to realize that their ignorant, out-dated institutionalized racism and their need to call black people N-words, isn't worth what it will cost them in the long run.
Honestly I don't think folks down south use the N-word any more than Whites in the north behind closed doors. I mean seriously..You should check out Boston

I don't think she got fired for the racist comments. She got fired because her and her brother played grabass with their white waitress.
The White women knew if she brought up the N-Word. It would have more sting.
Are you saying Paula Deen is a lesbian? Paula's shows have made millions for the Food Network. If it was just a matter of Deen's brother pursuing their white waitress then all FN had to was to tell Paula to kick his insignificant azz out of the back door so I don't think that's the case.

I really don't care what people whisper behind closed doors but Southerners are far more apt to yell out the N-word publically as if to promote the use of it. That's when anger is stirred, feeling are hurt and people are alienated.

I don't know if that is true. Probably in Mississippi.

How long is the terrible power of the N-word supposed to last? The irony is Blacks use it among themselves.

With me personally it holds no power. I am black but I don't associate the word with myself. She might as well call me a no good hoot owl because I don't care but it seems many black people do feel hurt by that word and not only that they feel hurt if someone calls them an ape as though we are any closer to apes than them, lol.

Most Southern whites are prejudged by many others, both black and white people as ignorant, racist, incestuous, filthy and prejudice. Everyone of all racial backgrounds like and accepted Paula because she seemed warm, welcoming and her food inviting. She brought all the positive beliefs about Southern people but now Paula Deen has affirmed that she has all of the worst White Southern stereotypes also.

Racism is wrong....period. Racist people are delusional and think everyone else is racist as well when that just isn't the case. Racism goes against social order and is not natural. That is why normal intelligent people take offense to stupid inappropriate comments. It is why racists are laughed at and called trash. She should have known better, which leaves me to think she is not that educated, as many racists are not. She will make some kind of comeback but for now she is getting what she deserves. And for the last time, there is no such thing as being "politically correct". There is right and wrong, that's it. What's offensive to one person may not be offensive to another person. There is no scale for how people should feel. Saying something stupid is just that. And you sound extremely old. Go retrain yourself.

I'm no lawyer nor do I have a good understanding of the term 'fair use'. However I hope, for your sake, that you are the person depicted in your avatar.

Given the strong views that you have expressed in this forum combined with image used in your avatar, you have left yourself open to a bevy of law suits. Starting from copyright infringement, reckless endangerment, misrepresentation, and deformation of character, and that's just to name a few legal infractions. All it would take is an e-mail to the relevant parties...

OTOH if you are the person depicted in the avatar ...then you sure is UGLY.

Don't mention it and have a nice day!

If she would admit publicly she was wrong to Jesse Jackson,he would forgive her and this matter would go away.

She might not like it,but its the only way out of this mess.

Blacks have not used race to promote their cause, only whites? Please!
A black man I worked with indicated that he was refered to in a negitive racial sterotype by a co-worker. I assured him if I was present with him I would back him with personal, and I would have. He also stated that if he did not get his way in the manner of promotions, or raises, he would use "the race card". I guess he really was not trying to promote his race.
I personally do not care what race, sexual orientation, or age, or sex you are in the workplace. I do, did care that people are qualified, and capable of doing the job they were hired for.
When I started with "the company" they had just started to hire women in the production area. Special equiptment had to be purchased, and weight lifting limits lowered to accomidate our female co-workers lower capibility to lift, and tote. It did make our job easier, and it did cost the company more to produce their goods. And after a period of time I would rather work with some women, then some of the men. I have worked with all races, sexes, and orientation, and we got along, and got the job done. From experience the thing that most people respected was a persons ability to do a job, or at least do it to the bst of their ability.
Anyone regardless of race, sex, or orientation that tried to ride on race, sex, or orientation, instead of doing their job was dissed.
I've never stated that only "whites" have used their cards. I have stated consistently and beyond repeatedly in this form that ANY ONE can subcom to supremacy.

I am not stating either that it is possible to change people's hearts. Again, I have repeatedly stated that the hate, supremacy, and extremism in this country NEEDS to be addressed. I don't like a lot of laws any more than the next person. But, one country cannot continue if the hate continues. Whether education about hate and societal divisions be incorporated via education, civic education, character education, and/or unfortunately more laws and amendments to teach people how to live together in a civilised way...If the country is changing socio-demographically, then the method of dealing with key surfacing issues should change. ANd, I think my message has been consistently clear about this.......I am promoting to challenge the integrated supremist mentalities in this country the LEGAL way. ANd, for the scenarios in the workplace which are difficult if not impossible to prove. Then, there needs to be some legal recourse for this as well.

There is nothing wrong with that.

Paula got caught thinking out loud--her views are quite representative of us whites--her comment to the black guy about not being able to see him when he's in front of the blackboard was hilarious

Black people misunderstand white people all the time.

Same thing with white people misunderstanding blacks.

But whites don't go all ape s#it and over-react about it.

to respond to latter part of your post more specifically, if someone is "riding" on something or anything, that is wrong and we all know that. But, that has to be seen as an INDIVIDUAL offence NOT as a group or category. Also, the companies should be held accountable if and when THEY "ride" on something for their selfish interest as well. It works BOTH ways. In MY case, I NEVER complained about anything, but a lot of the places were not ethical. more bad than good. ANd, it didn't matter what I did or did not do, I suffered repercussions which was not my responsibility to suffer. I NEVER filed a case with EEOC, I was too busy seeking my next job to provide for my children. MOst of the harassment WAS coming from people exhibiting and speaking and shoving in my face white supremacy, white privilege, racism , sexism, and far right ideologies. It was a pattern for 30+ years. and probably had a lot to do with the places I was moving to . I am not a political person and never was. I simply moved and began a life. The trouble came to me without any provocation. That's why I say that just my life alone is the only proof I need that there is something wrong in this country when a person WANTS to work and is even willing to seek positions below qualifications and work 2+ jobs, and still is backed into a corner without proof which will cost me my security that I honestly worked for. NOw, that's a problem. BTW: I would just go to work and do my job and stay out of drama etc. it did not matter! I still had to be responsible for someone else's behaviours. That is not indicative of a free country!
