What is wrong wit skin bleaching? It only takes your skin around 2 shades lighter anyways...nothing drastic. We have porcelana and Nadine skin bleaching creme....just like lighter skinned folk have self tanning lotions that will take their skin down to two shades darker...it's jus preference is all....I used to tan when I was a teen but not anymore, sun is too dangerous

I think it's the mentality that comes along with it...you know? And tanning/skin bleaching means one thing...trying to get down to an ideal 'shade'. The idea itself is sick. Why isn't the tone you were born with beautiful enough?

The Indian girls in those commercials are all naturally light skinned models. They just put bronzer, and body makeup on them, to make them appear darker. Fair and lovely is not strong enough to lighten skin several shades. What it mostly does is prevent skin from darkening more in the sun. Darker tanned skin is not desirable by most Indian women. Many White European women once felt the same way, and tried to keep it as light as possible. It has nothing to do with not liking being Indian. And while everyone is insulting those lovely ladies, at least their beautiful hair is natural, and was grown from their own scalps.

Ok, we have seen this commerical on topix a thousand times. Even if the bleach dosen't lighten the skin that much, that is not the message in those commericals. The girl goes from being a dark tribal looking indian girl and model agency lady even tells her to go get a banana. Then she bleaches to damn near white, hooks up with the white looking model guy and go off into the sunset. The message is clear in these commericals. Even though some of you are denying the message in the commerical, it is cristal clear especially with all that banana shit.

This is just my opinion ofcourse but I think there is a lot wrong with bleaching. Particularly since it is permanent. At least if it was just make up or a weave, it can be removed but skin bleaching is forever. Even tanning is not permanent so the two can't be compared.

The recpetionists is being snobby, but nothing is being said about getting a banana, or looking tribal.

I will translate. When the receptionist sees the girl she says, Pooja? This is a (modern) beauty company. As she leaves, she says "These kinds of girls are beautiful"

I have seen commercials in America where men can't get dates if they have too much grey in their beards, and women suddenly throw themselves at them when they color it. Advertisers will sometimes try and make people feel insecure, if they don't use their products, and that magical things will happen if they do, but it is not just India that advertises that way.

I been looking at the second link for that Ponds white beauty cream. And its like a dayum soap opera. They also got ones for Asian girls and, they keep talkin about pinkish white skin. WTH is up with that? How any cream goin give em rosy skin? And they got half them girls dressed in pink coz I think they are trying to make their skin look pinker. Them are some lame azz commericals.

We all want something othar than what we have because we DON'T have it...haven't you ever wished for bone str8 hair or smaller feet, or a bigger behind? It's a natural behavior to want something that you don't have, it's completely normal and very much a normal thing:)

Is skin bleaching really permanent? Because I thought since your skin is constantly making NEW skin cells and constantly shedding old skin cells, that melanin would be contiously remade into the new skin cells which would mean that your skin tone would keep melanin within it. I think if people use these bleaching skin tone cremes, it will only lighten a couple of shades but it will not be permanent unless you continue to use the product, since skin sheds itself, then the new skin coming in will replace the lost melanin, I thought?

I haven't seen the commercial yet, but I will in due time....if that is the case that they're psychologically trying to make people insecure in order to sell their product then NO, I do NOT approve of that type of behavior and the commericals should not be aired.

I've used and STILL use self tanning lotions to darken my skin tone, am I wrong because I want darker skin? I don't tan in the sun anymore because it's much to dangerous, so during summer time I'll use self tanning lotions to darken my skin, so that I'll be pretty....so what do you guys think of that?

Well if you have like bad acne or really bad scares, its ok to use A LITTLE bit until its gone, but using it when you dont have anything like that its bad. Sometimes it has to do with self hate I guess.

1. FDA said it may cause skin cancer.
2. Many have mercury in it.
3. Your skin can get thinner.
4. You can get really bad wrinkles, bad aging, and really bad acne marks. You can also get ocronosis.

Its just bad for your skin.

WOW these people are so seriously fucked up.
anyone ever watch zeetv or bollywood movies
It goes way back. There are people in India callled the untouchable's or Dalits. They are considered the lowest of the low and are always discriminated against. These people have real dark skin colour. The upper-caste consider them the scum of the earth and hide them from the rest of the world. They push it out through the media that everyone in India looks like the actors and actresses in Bollywood movies. They consider the lighter the skin the better.

As a black man in England i and my friends have suffered this discrimination. For example, when handing them money or receiving change in a shop, they will never want to touch your hand and place the money on the counter. I have heard they (the ignorant few, as i have a few Indian friends) consider black people as untouchables. This is one reason why the upper-caste have a desire to lighten their skin.

Also bleaching cream is big in Africa with a lot of African women!!
