But,do you know why he's overlooked and never talked about when speaking of all time greats? He fought old fighters who were pass their primes. He was another ,Terry Norris. He had Ko power, a good right hook, and heart, but we will never really know how good he really was, because he fought guys who were pass their primes and well on their way out. |

Damn, if you're talking TRUE SCRAPPERS, then where's Joe Louis at !? Good list but it has to be reviewed. I ain't mad at cha though. If Cus D'Amato was still around, Mike Tyson would DEFINITELY be the best fighter, EVER. D'Amato was the ONLY person that knew him and Tyson called him Daddy.......... My boy went out of control after he died. That's telling you something right there and Don King didn't make his life/mind any better. Don King milked him for hundreds of millions of dollars. That list should've had some old school Welterweight scrappers like Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler. Those fighters truly reprensented the sport. |

I didn't say that FM and RJjr were the best of the best.... I just wondered why they weren't included on the list. Afterall, the thread is entitled "favorite boxer". |

You're right, a lot of the good fighters he took on like Louis were out of their prime by this time. But he wasn't to young when he started either and he was also very small, prime or no prime, I will give him credit for having mad skills to take on those experienced and great fighters. He was the major underdog of his time. But I think a lot of the older fighters get overlooked until someone makes a movie about them. Boxers weren't so Hollywood awhile back so not as many people knew about them. I am a little upset though that he turned down 2 million to fight Ali, I don't know, I think Ali might have took that one. |
