"As President Obama closes out his presidential campaign on Monday with stops featuring A-List celebrities like rapper Jay-Z and rocker Bruce Springsteen, many of the victims of Hurricane Sandy are still waiting for federal, state and local assistance.

Almost a week after Superstorm Sandy pummeled New York and New Jersey, scenes of increased desperation — residents wielding bows and arrows against possible looters, tempers flaring in long gasoline lines, and impassioned pleas to officials for help — are highlighting what has become an uneven recovery from the storm.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, President Obama flew to assess the situation with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

But with over 2 million New Jerseyans and New Yorkers still without power, gas lines snaking for miles and as many as 40,000 people displaced from their homes -- some are seeing Obama's visit as nothing more than a photo op.

While power has been restored to many parts of New York City and most subway lines are up and running again, there is a palpable void in the New York/New Jersey region between those in need of help and those whose lives are returning to normal.

“I’m still waiting for the guard, FEMA, the Army Corps of Engineers, Red Cross to set up shop in Rockaway and start helping people back to a life. I’m not seeing it,” Brian Kelly, a retired FDNY firefighter from Belle Harbor, Queens, told the New York Daily News.

“Listen, I was a firefighter,” he told the paper.“I know relief doesn’t happen overnight. But we’re four days out now. I’m staying with relatives in Staten Island. I drive back to Rockaway every day because I’m afraid of my house getting robbed. In that time I haven’t seen any help in Rockaway. There are some city cops. I saw just two city garbage trucks. I saw the National Guard drive by a few times.”

Some critics allege that federal and state authorities failed to pre-position resources and rescue teams before the Hurricane came ashore.

Now, many are without shelter and electricity -- and it's getting cold, very cold.

Temperatures are plunging into the 30s overnight as some 700,000 homes and businesses in New York City, its northern suburbs and Long Island still lack electricity six days after the storm.

As a result, many homes are becoming uninhabitable, leaving tens of thousands without a place to stay."

What I'd like him to do is his job. Campaigning with celebrities isn't doing his job.

If I were those people, I'd be outraged.

Where's the media that inundated America with story after story about the people in NO?

Barry's a POS and I trust that the blow-back from his ineptitude returns to him in spades.

This is what we get when partying w/celebrities takes precedence over the lives of Americans.

Plain and simple, Barry the consummate politician used those people in NJ for a photo-op but the real proof of his ineptitude will come out. He must have forgotten that you don't want to screw over New Yorkers and others on the east coast. I trust they oust Bloomberg and Cuomo like yesterday's garbage. This is what happens when Dems run the circus. Failure on every level.

For his people. Not for those living in the devastated parts of NY. All Barry did was pose for photo-ops and then off that POS goes to party it up with celebrities. What kind of leader doesn't follow up to make sure that no American is suffering while he lives high on the hog that tax-payers are having to foot the bill for.

Last I checked, Bush was blasted because people suffered for 2 stinking days while were looking at 6 days out of Sandy.

For the record, Christie is voting for Romney not Obama.

Like I said, there will be h*ll to pay when those people who are suffering/left abandoned have their say when this comes to pass.

They sure can't. They think it's a real hoot. It would appear that they seem to forget that if it can happen to those in NY/on the east coast, it can happen to anyone. Just wait until the next Katrina. I just want to hear them belly aching about how "Bush hates Blacks". And sure enough, you don't hear one peep out of Sharpton or Jackson when they had plenty to say when Bush was in office. The whole thing is beyond disgraceful.

67% of all Americans think Obama is doing a good job handling Sandy's aftermath.

So that means even some RETARDLICANS agree with Obama's handling of Sandy.

If memory serves me correctly Bush went to John McCain's birthday party in Arizona instead of doing his job when Katrina hit.

Absolutely. They seem to forget that when this all comes to pass, people won't be forgetting this for a long time. I'd like them to spend one night in 30 some degree weather and see how much fun they would be having. Katrina was due to Nagin and the Gov's ineptitude. Just like Jackson said after Katrina, "but where would they drive the buses.", you hear the same, but what is Obama supposed to do. If Bush or any other Republican was in office, you know they would be screaming for their head on a platter. LOL

What some forget is NY and NJ is the Dem's bread and butter. If I were one of those people affected, I would never vote for another Dem in this lifetime in that you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

It's funny how racists cry about Obama and Sandy, but are silent on Bush's total and utter failure to stop the 9/11 attacks when they had the intell shoved in their faces AND THEN BLAME IRAQ FOR THE ATTACKS.
"the August 6, 2001, CIA briefing in Texas—the one in which Bush dismissed a CIA analyst with a terse "OK, you've covered your ass"—with the famous headline "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.," which he did in the following month"

For a republican shill like Scarlett, Obama could singlehandedly cure cancer and it still wouldn't be enough.

It's interesting that according an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, 67% approve of Obama's response to the disaster. Of course, it would appear that Scarlett has dipped into the same Koolaid bucket as Rudy Giuliani.

Bush had to go into hiding why becouse of a storm that hit one city and 7.8 unemployment and maybe he needed to.

Today we have dozens of citys and towns with out power water food or fuel and 7.9 unemployment and 6 more trillion in the red

So that gives obama the edge on bush as far as being a fxck up failed losers is conserned

A fkkng NBC poll doesn't poll republicans, because only libtards pay any attention to the network that had to FIRE people for editing the Zimmerman tapes to MAKE it a racial issue.

So, only 67 % of democrats approve of oBumble's handling of the situation with Sandy.
