On twitter and instagram everybody is crazy about her and so am I because she is a good looking black woman and she is all natural. I am hoping if her becoming a star will convince BW that natural hair is the way go from here.

She is an attractive black woman but their is no need for AA black women to copy the style of African women. AA women have all kinds of textures and lengths of hair due to admixtures where most recognized Nigerians have much less and more pure African and therefore have more uniformed hair. Secondly they live in a world that accept women with very short Afrocentric hair, AA women do not. Like it or not straight or wavy hair is the standard in the U.S.. I have seen several AA women persecuted for wearing their naturally in an afro, braids or treads by employers who told them that their hairstyle were unacceptable and not the image their business want to represent and by some hypocritical brothers who ridiculed the hell out of black women with short natural hair, calling them bald and nappy headed but are now the first ones in line to also criticize black women for wearing weaves. There must be a happy medium somewhere that AA sisters can express themselves and showcase their beauty without copying African and white women.

First let me say that Lupita is Kenyan not nigerian. But I agree with what you said and I don't know how I forgot maybe I was caught up in the moment. But at least we see tha short hair don't mean masculine becausr this woman is very feminine.

I'm sure other chimps in the zoo find one another attractive, doesn't mean humans do.

I want a woman that looks like a woman...not like some marine just out of bootcamp...is she ashamed of her hair or something?

Sorry about the mistake and I am glad you know what I mean. She is pretty and very feminine looking with her short natural hair and being Kenyan or another African women her hairstyle would probably accepted in American but not on AA women.

Some black women just thought Gaby's hair could have looked better but you black he-rillas where the ones calling Gaby a man and ugly just because she is dark skin. You animals would have standing on your front paws and clapping with your hind ones if she had of been several shades lighter.

Sisters, both here and in the Motherland, are just downright FINE! I don't matter if they look like Lupita or Halle.

Thank you. If you think about it, we black women have to put up with a lot. Pressure from the workplace to wear our hair one and now pressure from some black men wear it the complete opposite. We as grown black women should be the only ones to decide how our hair is worn and that we feel comfortable with it.

No I am talking about human beings because people of African descent where the first and oldest race of people on earth. You other races came from the African people and then morphed into another species but since I possess the human qualities of intelligence and proper manners which you don't, I still consider your species a form of humans also.

Many white women with our without hair look like they just came out of boot camp. Why did you questioned if she like her hair?

I wouldn't say this is copying. I have seen some Africans wear Afros, many African Americans wear locs now when originally they were more popular among Jamaicans. These are all natural hairstyles and can be worn by anyone who has natural hair. Natural hairstyles are not restricted to certain ethnic groups unless certain ethnic groups lack the ability to achieve certain hairstyles. Why should all BW be restricted to certain hairstyles or why do all AA's have to wear the same hairstyle?? This highlights a lack of originality among us.

Your right about the BW bashing Gabby and calling her out her name over hair when she is an athlete.

And for the record this thread wasn't attended to bash BM I am just wondering if BW with natural hair like Lupito could learn to embrace it. And she is proof that femininety isn't about the afro it's about the woman.
