I'm going to keep it real with you all and im not going to sugarcoat nothing. Black women are not the problem its us. If you really look at we are not doing right by them. Not the other way around brothers. We are the ones who killing each other over anything. We are the ones selling drugs and jackin. We are the ones going to prison. Brothers i understand that we didn't choose this lifestyle. It was handed down to us by our fathers. Trust me when i say i understand. How do we treat our women? From what i see not very good. Alot of us will beat our woman to the ground for coming at us wrong. We will get them pregnant and roll out on them. We cheat on them and not care how much it hurts them. Even through all that they will still stand tall for you. Our women love us and understands us more than any other race of woman ever could. They have proven it time after time again. All alot of them are asking for is to be loved, respected, and appreciated. They want us to provide for them and our babies. That is what we are suppose to do. They have shown us that they are with us. Now we have to show them something. Trust me when I say if we do right they will be there. So brothers its time for us to wake up. Its time for us to show them how much we love them.

I'm going to be honest with you. When I first read your statement. My initial reaction was

"Speak for your damn self".

Then I had to ask myself. I am my brother's keeper. Because as much as I protest, and try to reason. What a black man does in Compton, Ca does reflect on me here.

So I do feel that the message does need to get out. And of course you are correct in saying that is all black women have been asking for and deserve to receive.

I hope this sparks off a debate among black men without black women being blamed for absolutely everything.

Speak for yourself. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. Black men are not some collective like the Borg who move in lockstep. There used to be a time when the entire black community shamed the people who do the things you mentioned. Now they embrace and coddle them and make excuses for them. As for how we treat our women, women have to start refusing to accept such behavior. It's not like they HAVE to date or have a child with a thug. Hell, if most black women waited until their late 20s or 30 to have kids, we wouldn't have "children" raising children, but instead PARENTS who can raise their kids with a firm but loving hand.

Sorry to go all Bill Cosby on you, but some of this stupid sh*t that's going on needs to stop. And it's up to the individual. Hell, most of those people doing the things you mention know the difference between right and wrong. If they didn't, they wouldn't be in such a hurry to leave the scene of a shooting.

Or the woman, you know, doesn't have to give it up if he DOESN'T have a condom. That's another option

I used to think this, but then I realized that everyone is responsible for their own actions. if every black family just took care of their OWN house, think of the world we would have. We would be UNSTOPPABLE.

Black people know the difference between right and wrong, between what they should do and what they shouldn't do. We're not stupid. I cannot take responsibility for what the Black man in Compton does because I'd be doing that all day long. YOu can point people in the right direction but they have to choose to take that path. You can't drag them.

It will. Just watch. The current Black man is devoid and incapable of being responsible for his own actions. Its always somebody else's fault that they "let" them do something lol. The old generation of Black men that wanted to do right by their women and children and loved God is dead. Black women get out while you can a create REAL Black families. Even if they are half of something else its better than struggling on your own with men who hate you because you are just as Black as them.

I have tried to relay this to black youths a few years ago when I supported Big Brothers and Sisters.

It's like a brick wall.

Out of curiosity, what about the black men in YOUR FAMILY? Are you giving them this very same message?

At Chill out again.

You are missing the point the Original thread starter (OTS) is trying to make.

I agree with your analogy, don't get me wrong, you make sense, but in the spirit of the OTS, he wants to speak to the men.

He is focusing on the nasty things that black men do to their women, this is the focus of this thread.

A thread focusing on the nasties that black women do can be made but this is not that thread.

Another thread can be made for blame laying but this is not that thread.

A wise man once said when you can sit and take the heat for your actions without trying to shift or share blame, then and only then are you ready for a transformation.

The OTS knows the dirt that black women do, he is not oblivious to it but he is on to something.

Women encourage each other to do and act right and/or better but men do not do it,and he has taken the initiative to do it, the least you can do is give him support.

Please don't say you are not those nasty men that do that but those men create a reputation by which YOU sir are labeled, so therefore you should FEEL the weight of their actions towards their women.

You should feel the weight not so that you will render an apology, after all you didn't do anything, but rather feel the weight so that it will motivate you to see a brother who isn't acting right and make an attempt to correct him.

Thank you.

I am a Christian and so is my family. We don't do filthy, disgusting things to women and children and then feel its okay because they "let us".

I agree with alot of what you say Mitch, but don't you think the sisters are part of the equation also? They support these men. Maybe if they stop supporting these type of men, it would help the community. I have a friend who is about 70 years old which told me that even in his hey day, women supported these type of men. Both are the problem.
