Someone here on Topix once mentioned that the progress of Africa will be the progress of Africans World-wide. In other words, Africa's rise is the equivalent of Africans and people of African descent's rise World-wide. The rise of Africa will make Africans very powerful in the same way that China is becoming a superpower.

Do you agree?

Ma'am,

I may be the one who wrote that at least i've used the idea in a thread. i'm not the first to think of that naturally.
It's crystal clear that when in 2050 1.8 BILLIONS of Africans are citizens of a world super power, it will have a heavy influence on the situation of AAs (in demographic decline within the USA in %), Black Caribbeans, Black Latino Americans who are still marginalized for ex. in Brazil and last but non the least Afro Europeans whose number is constantly increasing. Figures and economic wealth have some consequences on the status of individuals.

Marcus Garvey had this idea in the 1920's : he was wrong in wanting that the Black diaspora moves in Africa in order to have the economic and political growth of the Great Continent.
But he was right on thinking the Black diaspora and Africans have connections and can move up together.

It's clear that African Americans are and have been rather well accepted and found a good situation in Western European societies (for ex. in France) in spite of then Jim Crow laws in the USA because they were seen as American citizens and so belonging to a Super-Power.

However things are not always mechanical and it won't dispense anybody of fighting the whiteness ideology worldwide.

Sorry your all wrong.

The black peoples only job is to help get rid of white people.

Once white people are gone. The joos will have little use for black people.

They will just decimate the black populations. Like today they have HIV.

Also in the future black people wont have white liberals to protect and shield them any more from the ruthless mongoloids and savage arabs.

These races dont have any concept of human rights. Like black people dont either.

And they will just enslave black people again and it will be bussniess as usual.

The white countrys wont be black either. They will be mongralized.

Why do you black people think you will all work together?

When africa was all black you were killing each other so much there were almost none of you left when white people got there.

And in the future you wont be all black any more. Your be all mongralised.

Then you will have real differences to fight over, so saying you will come together in peace is pure idiocy.

I do not believe that Africa has the capability to ever become a superpower. They are hundreds of years behind the world, the tribe mentality does not fit into a modern world. And saying that, it's one of those things that is very odd due to the size and the possible wealth. So it either has to do with their mentality or mother nature herself is stunting Africa's growth for some reason.

But, for the sake of answering the next question, if they did, it would only be for Africa. For example, people with similar skin color here are Americans, not Africans. In my opinion, just because someone's ancestors came from a particular country does not mean that the living descendants now have any tie or right to it.

The hyphenated names were popular back in the days of Ellis Island immigration because in fact, those people were Irish-American, Italian-American, etc. but that practice was dropped awhile ago as we all came together as Americans as most people received their citizenship.

I really do not care what any country does as long as they are not threatening or attacking my country, America.

dcool, I think you are among a group of observers/thinkers who have mentioned this Africa rise so will rise all 'Africans' on another thread. The view was formulated in a super way, but where is it...LOL (the amount of data here on Topix is extremely overwhelming).

However Black Deal, it would be interesting to hear how the 'rise' correlates with perceived 'relevance' of Africans' world-wide.

It looks like there are less and less civil wars erupting in Africa - A sign that the continent is making progress, I suppose

Thanks for your contribution Lauren Ann. However, I am struggling a bit to find an answer in what you posted, to the question on whether the rise of Africa will be the rise of African people World-wide, which include African Diaspora. I don't quite see where this is associated with "...similar skin color here are Americans, not Africans." I hope you can elaborate.

Apparently, this resembles a good attempt at contributing to the debate. However, I have to admit that I am trying very hard to follow the logic in those many sentences, but can't. I hope you can clarify further, if you would like your comments to add value to the debate. Just my humble opinion.

attai thank you very much for your elaborate response. you have primarily touched on the possible outcomes of Africa's rise for African Americans and wider Diaspora, which is insightful. However, what about the Africans on the continent - will the 'rise'transform the way Africans are perceived, and their role globally?

It would make me very proud to see Africa become a super power. Most of us here were scared of Africa as kids and it was our nightmare to be sent there. So it would make me relieved to live in a world where blacks kids in America don't have to be shamed or scared of Africa.

sassyntrashy, thank you very much for your apparently honest response. It is very important to this discussion.

Just for more clarity, would the rise of Africa make you feel 'more relevant' or make you as an African American, feel like you have also 'risen'?

I really appreciate your effort to contribute to the discussion. However, I don't see any evidence in support of an answer to the question raised. How, and if, the progress of Africa will 'transform' Africans and people of African descent all over the world. Will Africa's rise signify the rise of Africans and African Diaspora? Perhaps you would like to address this more clearly.

(On a minor note, I think I read in the news that there is a dog called BO in the Whitehouse, I didn't know that it is now president. Thanks for sharing. Indeed, America is changing, and I suppose very soon other developed nations will follow suit.)
