Some of you may be going- "DUH!" or whatever, but I honestly thought she was just light-skinned. And then I saw her mother on tv and couldn't believe that she looked Native American! Does anyone know her mother's heritage? And how come they always hide these mixed parents? Notice how you never see Barack's White mother (but you see his wife left and right), you never see Halle Berry's mother all over the place (maybe once in a blue moon...)? Is it because it would turn off the Black community?

Tina Knowles looks like an old light-skinned black woman who wears wigs and weaves. A lot of black people, including myself, has someone who looks simmilar to her. She reminds me of my aunt Pat, but my aunt Pat prefers very light colored wigs. You know that some of us got "something" else in us from the slave days.

I believe that her mother is Creole and a mixture of something else.
But Beyonce is not bi-racial if that's what you mean. She is a mixture however, like many blacks are.
There are not many pure-bred blacks in America.
She is just light-skinned.
If I'm honest Halle Berry and Barack are in two completely different public realms. Unless there is a huge controversy between family members, or the entire family is famous, you hardly see a celeb's family.
For example, I hardly see Jessica Biel's mother(and Jessica is white), I hardly see Nia Long's mother, and Nia is black...
But I have seen Britney spear's mother because she is in the middle of a family feud.
Barack is to become our president. He isn't an entertainer. So it's no wonder that we will learn a lot about his family, and see more of his family members, then we will a celebrity.
So in other words, NO, I don't think Halle "hides" her mother from the black community. I think she probably hides her family from the public spotlight because she has figured out that the paparazi are crazy.

No, but her features were definitely in tune with Native Americans. She did not look like a Black woman with White blood in her genes. She didn't look Causacian to me. And her hair was long, dark and straight like a native. You say it is weave but I am sure it's more than that.

I also want to add that Barack has already made it known that his mother is white. Thus "hiding" her from the community is pointless. We know he is not 100% black. His mother is dead(as someone pointed out) and I think that his main concern is introducing the US to his immediate family, which is why we see pics of him and his immediate family, and not other family members. I haven't really seen Bill clinton's mother either, and he is white.
This isn't a racial issue.

Beyonce is siimply light skinned. Her mother is also light skinned however she has creole in her family. If you listen to the special edition of BDAY Beyonce has a song about Creole women.

she is black and thats not hard to see. Her mom may be mixed with something, but one can plainly see that she is balck, although they dress her up and make her look like a white barbie doll, like they do to Tyra Banks their black and if you want to say shes mixed, well is'nt every one somewhere in their blood line!

Tina Knowles wears wigs and weaves, the root of her hair is kinky. She does not look any different from a lot of light-skinned old black women. You have seen them, I am sure. She has stated that she is a Creole, and since she did not say she was FRENCH creole, that means that she is a mixture of black and possibly french or Indian down the line. Also, being a Creole is more about culture than anything, the racil lines get blurry.

Okay, thanks for that.

Another thing, regarding Beyonce and Alicia Keys, is that when you look at them they give one appearance, like they are all suburbian, upper class what-have-you. Then they open their mouths and sound a little rough around the edges! Am I right or am I right?(I expected them to say "Omigawd! I am like soooo happy that my album is like totally selling so well, fer sure!)

Tyra is an Ethiopian, if I am not mistaken, and they have a tawny complexion, like reddish-brown. Plus, thin lips and big foreheads.

I never heard that Barack's mother had died! That's sad! But how come Barack's father doesn't come with him and make appearances ever? It's his father!

Beyonce is a black identified african american, but yes she does have some mixed heritage onm her mothers side. her mother is of african, french and native american, but obviously in america she will always be considered black because of the one drop rule. the creoles of louisianna are really multigenerational biracial people or triracial people who breeded with other people like themselves for generations down the line, just think of two mulattos marrying each other and that is how it goes. I know all about the creoles as i have many creoles relatives, they all consider themselves nothing but black.

This is what I've been trying to tell you guys on other threads

Her mom is what all black americans are, African, Antive american and caucaison. Just because some people have features that look closer to it doesnt meen anything. I work with a guy who's mom is white but he is darker than me, broader nose, kinkier hair. And his mom is white! So it doesnt matter

Okay, she may have all those things, but she really looks Native American to me. She doesn't look African at all. Beyonce's dad does, though.

Who cares?
I do. Are you one of those people who think it's offensive or totally boring to know what countries other people's features represent? Maybe the question is- why care about anything then? I am a curious person and I like other cultures. I am also someone for whom people want to know my nationality, due to my features, and it doesn't bother me in the least. So there.

This is why Blacks need to stop wearing White Girl wigs.

LOL, "Black and Proud.... but I wear a weave."
