Snowboarding: An extreme sport by choice - The Park Record

There are 16 comments on the Park Record story from Jan 20, 2010, titled Snowboarding: An extreme sport by choice - The Park Record. In it, Park Record reports that:

Scotty Lago sat comfortably on a pile of snow with his feet propped on top of his board and his eyes - shaded from the bright Park City sun with his goggles - staring straight ahead as he watched his fellow competitors cleanly landing their runs on Park City Mountain Resort's 22-foot halfpipe.

snowboarding is about a faux "extreme" as it gets.
<turn on falsetto> Oh no I don't want to fall down that manufactured smooth slope where nothing can happen to me! Oh no I don't want to skid sideways down a hill and scrape all the snow off...it's sooooooooooo scary! <falsetto off>

Pigo is a retard.
Any sport is just as extreme as the athlete chooses it to be. Dig? It is the actor, not the venue which is, or is not extreme.
If you think that injuries cannot happen in a half pipe, then you are, once again, playing the role of a stupid idiot.
Dip.

So you think that if a golfer thinks of himself as an extreme sportsman it's so?

well you have to admit that the venues are pretty extreme. Go watch a few videos. I'd suggest checking out neverland and seeing the locations/venues and how extreme they are.

ski jumping itself is extreme. has nothing to do with the actor... has to do with the jump.

speed skating is extreme. venue has as much to do with it as the actor.

regardless, any winter/summer sport has a chance to be extreme.

Compared to doing it on skis? Tips can cross or go in opposite directions? Dig in? That's gnarly, I'll admit. But it's not a halfpipe.

Those that can ski, do. Those that cannot, snowboard.

It does. Just look at most of the women ski instructors and staff at Deer Valley. I think the uniform supplier had to custom design the pants for the women there.
