The Arizona Cardinals have released quarterback John Skelton , who started 17 games for the team over the past three seasons.

Skelton made six starts and played in seven games with the Cardinals last season, but completed just 54.2 percent of his passes for 1,132 yards with two touchdowns, nine interceptions and two fumbles lost.

The Arizona Cardinals made a pair of roster moves on Thursday. The team retained defensive end Ronald Talley and waived guard Blake DeChristopher .

The Cardinals also announced on Saturday that they have tendered a one-year qualifying contract offer to restricted free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer.
