If the owners are worried that they can't continue to gouge the fans in these tough times, perhaps they should practise some restraint or try to run their business better. If revenues shrink, their obligation to the players shrinks also -- it's in the agreement they made with the players. One thing the owners might try is paying unproven rookies less money. They could also stop using every available loophole to get around the salary caps that they insisted on in the last collective bargaining agreement. The owners act like hypocrites and apparently believe the players won't notice. Shouldn't the owners be smarter than the athletes?

They should but i see a long strike if they do!
hell if it weren't for the salary cap ,the Packers would be screwed! They are having a hard enough time with esc.signing bonuses as it is and signing bonuses are rising. One thing i definitely agree with you on,is rookie salary. There is no way in hell a first round pick should get a 6yr 70M deal and 15-20M signing bonus before his first snap! |
