Good times roll in New Orleans, and so do Saints
NEW ORLEANS -- It was a big-game atmosphere at the Superdome with the New England Patriots in town for a highly anticipated Monday night matchup, and the New Orleans Saints obliged with a big-time performance.
Quarterback Drew Brees threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers to thoroughly outplay his Patriots counterpart, Tom Brady, and the Saints remained unbeaten with a 38-17 triumph that delighted a sellout crowd of 70,768.
The Saints improved their record to 11-0 and looked every bit like a legitimately dominant team, especially on offense, along the way. Brees completed 18 of 23 passes for 371 yards, compiling a perfect passer rating of 158.3 and adding to his most valuable player credentials in what appears to be a three-way race with fellow quarterbacks Peyton Manning of Indianapolis and Brett Favre of Minnesota.
