Predicting the Saints' 53-man opening day roster winds down to some tricky decisions

Full story: Times-Picayune

The New Orleans Saints see veteran quarterback Joey Harrington as a long-term project, and that may keep him on the roster ahead of a younger player like linebacker Jonathan Casillas.

There are two issues I have with the line up: one is at RB, the Saints need someone good at going thru the middle and I don't see that yet. Two is Harrington, he has not done well anywhere he has been.

I think Rod Harper makes the squad, Adrian Arrington probably gets cut. If we carry 4 backs I beleive Lynell Hamilton or P.J. Hill will make it, But whichever one out of the two that makes it, the other will be on the practice squad. I think Lee Torrence makes it and Danny Gorrer on the practice squad.

You couldn't be more wrong about a runner hitting the middle, I'm watching a replay of the Miami game and i watching Donaldson tear up the middle along with Hill, that's their greatest asset so far Hamilton looks good also...this is going to be tough for the saints coaching staff, who stays and who goes.

Man, Harper is a beast!! If he don't make the team then they don't want good players. I don't think we need to carry 3 QB's. Harrington gotta go we can then keep a extra running back.

I think Harper is good, But what do they do with Roby, Roby is a good return man, Harper will do OK with returns too, But I think Roby would give the Saints good field position every rip. I hope Casillas makes it too, In 2 years he could possibly take Shanle's job. If we keep 3 QB's, Cut Harrington and bring in someone like Graham Harrell, Someone younger than what we have now. Gorrer has a real upside, I'd put him on the practice squad and let him develop a little...... I don't envy Sean Payton right now.

I know the cuts are tough and necessary and I can understand P J Hill and Skyler Green but can someone tell me why these two,(of all the cuts), did not go to the practice squad. Also did you ever hear a better name for a center than "Digger Buinoch", don't remember seeing him play but what a name for a lineman.

I can understand Hill because you could have flipped a coin on him and Hamiltion, They just didn't have space for Skyler. The cut I'm having problems with is Roby. I think he would have giving the Saints good field position returning kicks.

Yo mookie, i like Roby too man but if Harper didn't make this team then you'll have players asking "well hell, what the shit you have to do to make this team". Harper did everything right in practice and in the games, he got open and made some great plays as a receiver in the Houston and Bengals game, that's something Roby don't give you in a game he's just a return man.
Now we have a return man and another reliable receiver.

Chris Mortensen from ESPN said, " Spicer didn't look too good when he visited Saints camp ". Spicer was with Gregg Williams in Jacksonville last year, Gregg must think he's washed up. Saints might sign him back once Grant and Smith start serving their suspensions but I think we're pretty loaded at DE with Charleston , McCray , and Hargrove ( who for some reason plays like Leroi Glover to me ) Maybe um crazy !!!!
